MALIBU, Calif. (AP) — Josip Vrankic scored 26 points, Guglielmo Caruso added 18, both career highs, and Santa Clara swept the season series with a 79-71 win over Pepperdine on Thursday night.
The Broncos (13-11, 5-5 West Coast Conference) took the lead for good during a 7-0 run early in the second half and followed that with an 8-0 run to push the lead to 54-44. Keshawn Justice's 3-pointer at the 8:36 mark gave Santa Clara its largest lead at 63-50.

PROVO, Utah (AP) — Yoeli Childs had 27 points, TJ Haws added 16 points with a key 3-pointer late, and BYU beat Santa Clara 80-74 on Saturday night.
Haws' catch-and-shoot 3 from the right wing made it 77-71 with 1:33 left in the game. The Cougars (11-8, 3-1 West Coast Conference) made 3 of 4 free throws to secure the win.
Hachimura leads No. 7 Gonzaga past Santa Clara, 91-48
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Santa Clara never had a chance with No. 7 Gonzaga at full strength for the first time this season.
Rui Hachimura scored 25 points, Brandon Clarke added 16 and Gonzaga routed Santa Clara 91-48 to open defense of its West Coast Conference regular-season title.
"That was exactly what we wanted to do," Gonzaga coach Mark Few said about the impressive offensive and defensive performance. "We had our defense going. We were able to score in transition."

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Tahj Eaddy scored 21 of his career-high 30 points in the first half to help Santa Clara open West Coast Conference play with a 68-56 win over San Diego on Thursday night.
The Broncos (9-6) never trailed and pulled away with 13 straight points to a 25-5 lead in the first half. Eaddy scored 11 points during that run and Santa Clara led 35-18 at halftime.
Santa Clara wins 4th straight, 77-56 over Idaho
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Josh Martin and Josip Vrankic scored 13 points each, Trey Wertz added 10 points and 10 assists, and Santa Clara won its fourth in a row with a 77-56 victory over Idaho on Friday night.
Tahj Eaddy had 12 points and Keshawn Justice added 10 for the Broncos (7-6), who have won six of their last seven.
Santa Clara led 37-23 at halftime and led by no less than 14 in the second half, building to its largest lead at 77-47 before the Vandals (3-8) closed the game on a 9-0 run.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Kelvin Jones scored 14 of his 20 points in the final 10 minutes and Idaho State overcame a 14-point, second-half deficit to beat Santa Clara 68-66 on Friday night.
Jones finished Jared Stutzman's drive-and-dish with 17.8 seconds left to give the Bengals (4-3) their first lead in over 15 minutes at 67-66. Tahj Eaddy missed a floater for the Broncos (3-6) with four seconds left. Jones was fouled after grabbing the rebound and made 1 of 2 free throws to cap the scoring.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Trey Wertz scored a career-high 33 points on 9-of-15 shooting Thursday night to help Santa Clara beat Jackson State 81-70.
Wertz made 4 of 6 from 3-point range and 11 of 13 at the foul line. Josip Vrankic added 19 points and Josh Martin had 14 rebounds to go with six points.
The Broncos (2-5) never trailed in the game and had their largest lead at 69-57. It was Santa Clara's second win in a row after opening the season with five straight losses.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Collin Welp scored 12, Eyassu Worku and Max Hazzard added 11 points each, and UC Irvine used a second-half surge to beat Santa Clara 61-49 on Thursday night.
The Anteaters (4-0) trailed by five early in the second half before taking control with a 19-3 run to lead 46-35 on Jonathan Galloway's layup with 7:19 left in the game. The Broncos (0-2) got the deficit no closer than eight from there.
