Marco Asensio's first-half winner to beat Espanyol 1-0 on Saturday was initially waived off for offside but eventually stood after assistance from the VAR, which is making its La Liga debut this season.
"In the end there was justice. I'm glad the VAR worked," Asensio said. "I had already told (the referee) I didn't think I was offside."
Real Madrid sends goalkeeper Lunin on loan to Leganes
MADRID (AP) — Real Madrid is loaning 19-year-old goalkeeper Andriy Lunin to Leganes until the end of the season.
Madrid signed the Ukrainian earlier this year but did not plan to use him in the main squad.

Barcelona forward Suarez out 4 weeks with right knee injury
BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — After losing Neymar for good, Barcelona will also face the first month of the Spanish league season without Luis Suarez.
Barcelona said Thursday that Suarez will be sidelined for four weeks after medical tests revealed a knee injury in his right leg.
That will rule him of Sunday's league opener against Real Betis, and the following matches against Alaves and Espnayol. The club said he could also miss the match again Getafe after the international break.

SKOPJE, Macedonia (AP) — Real Madrid eased to a 2-1 victory over Manchester United to win the Super Cup on Tuesday, with goals in each half from Casemiro and Isco.
Cristiano Ronaldo watched most of the end-to-end action from the bench, while his teammates outclassed United Cup on a hot night.
Casemiro hit the bar with a header and fired a shot over the top before scoring in the 24th minute. The Brazilian slid in for a left-foot finish, served up by Dani Carvajal.
