A Glendale woman and a Riddle boy are recovering after a successful kidney transplant in Portland.
Tiffany Spohn of Glendale had agreed to the transplant despite never having met 10-year-old Donovon Dinneen.

Costco, Utah woman settle lawsuit over E. coli poisoning
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Costco and a woman who claimed the chicken salad she ate from there poisoned her with E. coli, causing her to need a kidney transplant, have reached an agreement but court records do not give any details.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports that 21-year-old Chloe Rodgerson's lawsuit was dismissed on Monday in U.S. District Court. Court records say both parties reached an undisclosed agreement.
Sen. Okerlund’s health issues trigger leadership changes
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah Senate Majority Leader Ralph Okerlund is temporarily stepping down from his leadership role because he is being evaluated for possible heart and kidney transplants.
Senate President Wayne Niederhauser said in a news release Thursday that Sen. Kevin Van Tassell will become the Senate majority leader for the time being while Okerlund attends to his health. Okerlund will continue his regular duties as a legislator.

When Don White Jr. first went on the waiting list for a pancreas and kidney, there was no transplant program in Spokane.
Then 32, White had lived with type 1 diabetes since he was 14, and his kidneys were failing from the strain of poorly-managed blood sugar over the years. He needed a new kidney to filter his blood, and a new pancreas to cure his diabetes, solving the underlying problem.
“They told me my kidneys were shutting down,” he said of his initial visit.

DeKALB – It has been close to two years since 19-year-old Ricky De La Cruz underwent a life-saving heart transplant.
Although the surgery allowed him live a more active life, Ricky still suffered from kidney problems, which eventually became so severe he needed a kidney transplant.
Luckily, Ricky did not have to wait long to find a donor. His father, Lalo, will donate one of his to his son Monday.

Greenwich families gives $2.5M for improved kidney transplant protocols

Born with congenital kidney failure, Zachary Elsenpeter faced a lifetime of medical complications.

Oakfield Elementary School teacher Jodi Schmidt gave third-grader Natasha Fuller a kidney last year.
Natasha had been sick with prune belly syndrome since birth. The condition causes urinary tract disease and the need for kidney dialysis. Natasha went into renal failure just before the May 2016 transplant.
Wisconsin man grateful for kidney transplant after 50 years
KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) — A kidney from a 14-year-old girl helped Frank Germinaro raise a family, pursue a career and live his life.
It was March of 1970 when Germinaro underwent the transplant at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin due to a childhood bladder ailment that caused his kidneys to fail as a teenager.
