The Durham County Sheriff's Office told news outlets 33-year-old that Chivalry Alexander Moore of Kinston was shot by a sheriff's deputy during a standoff at a Durham home last Tuesday.
Moore was arrested and charged with murder after he was released from the hospital. He's being held without bond.

North Carolina man arrested in fatal shooting
KINSTON, N.C. (AP) — Law enforcement officials have apprehended a man wanted in a fatal shooting last month.
Kinston police said in a news release Friday its officers, along with the U.S. Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force, arrested 25-year-old Jamari Davis on Friday.
Davis is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 26-year-old Cleo Majette Jr., who was found shot to death in a car on April 22.
KINSTON, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina woman was killed when the car she was driving hit a freight train.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol tells local news outlets 83-year-old Glynn Seymour Smith of Kinston died at the scene when he car struck a CSX train at a crossing on N.C. Highway 11 between Kinston and Grifton.
Officials say the warning lights and safety arm were operating at the time of the accident Thursday. The patrol said the car Smith was driving hit the safety arm, then hit the train.
KINSTON, N.C. (AP) — Police are investigating a shooting that killed a 27-year-old North Carolina man.
Authorities tell local media they were called to a home at around 9:30 p.m. on Friday. They found Anthony Dove of Kinston suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.
Officials say Dove was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

PINK HILL, N.C. (AP) — A woman and a child have died in a wreck in eastern North Carolina.
Media outlets reported the wreck happened on U.S. 258 near Pink Hill in Lenoir County around 9 a.m. Monday.

News outlets report that a release from Kinston police says officers were conducting directed patrols at the request of a community and encountered 44-year-old Anthony Hicks on Saturday, around 9:30 p.m. Police say gunshots were fired and Hicks was struck.
Hicks was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were injured.

Authorities tell local media outlets 35-year-old Alexander James Cogdell of Kinston was arrested just before 7 p.m. Saturday and charged with being a registered sex offender in a place where children are present. He as jailed under $20,000 bond, and it wasn't known if he had an attorney.
Trooper: Day care driver falls asleep, van with nine kids inside flips near Kinston
State troopers say a day care van driver fell asleep while transporting nine children Tuesday afternoon, causing the van to flip over and land on its top on N.C. Highway 11 south of Kinston.
Trooper Gary Ipock says the van was heading north on the highway when Kiera Joyner fell asleep, running the van off the road. The driver overcorrected, and the van flipped over.

KINSTON, N.C. (AP) — The president of a North Carolina volunteer fire department was killed when he was struck by a pickup truck as he walked with his wife along a rural road.
The N.C. Highway Patrol told local media outlets that 54-year-old Glenn Deaver was killed as he walked with his back to traffic on a rural road southwest of Kinston in Lenoir County. Deaver's wife, who was walking on the shoulder, wasn't hurt.
KINSTON, N.C. (AP) — Authorities say six people have been arrested after a brawl in the parking lot of a hospital where a shooting victim was being treated.
Kinston police said the shooting and the fight Tuesday evening were related.
Authorities say 18-year-old Golontae Brock was dropped off UNC Lenoir Hospital with gunshot wounds, but his injuries don't appear to be life threatening.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Authorities have identified a carjacking suspect killed in an officer-involved shooting in east-central Minnesota.
The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office says 39-year-old Gregory Thrower, of Kinston, North Carolina, died of multiple gunshot wounds.
The Chisago County Sheriff's Office says law officers fired shots after Thrower was found outside the town of Harris on Monday. Thrower died at the scene.
GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — The mayor of one of North Carolina's largest cities has resigned to take a state job.
Greenville Mayor Allen Thomas announced Tuesday he's leaving his position to become executive director of the North Carolina Global Transpark, a state-run industrial airport in Kinston.

A statement from the Kinston Police Department says 25-year-old James Sparks III of Cary was arrested Friday by police and members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.
Warrants had been issued for Sparks charging him with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was arrested at a Kinston residence.
KINSTON, N.C. (AP) — A former heavyweight in the North Carolina legislature is free after serving his time in federal prison.
Multiple media organizations report that former Republican state Rep. Stephen LaRoque of Kinston was released on Friday after serving one year and nine months.
LaRoque pleaded guilty to stealing $150,000 in taxpayer money from a non-profit he operated in Kinston for his personal benefit. Prosecutors say he took $2.7 million.
