Davis scores 19 points to lead Jacksonville over Kennesaw St
KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) — Tyreese Davis reached career highs with 19 points and 12 rebounds and JD Notae triple-doubled to lead Jacksonville to a 90-70 victory over Kennesaw State on Wednesday night.
The strong effort by Davis and Notae helped the Dolphins (8-9, 1-1 Atlantic Sun) overcome a 28-point game by Tyler Hooker of Kennesaw State (3-14, 0-2).
Yale downs Kennesaw State 92-65 behind Atkinson, Copeland
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Paul Atkinson and Alex Copeland scored 16 points apiece and Yale pulled away early to beat Kennesaw State 92-65 on Wednesday night to win its fourth straight.
Miye Oni scored 15 points and made six assists for the Bulldogs (8-3), who held the Owls to 33-percent shooting. Jordan Bruner scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Azar Swain added 13 points with three 3-pointers.
Obineke scores 24 in Kennesaw State’s 90-72 victory
KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) — Ugo Obineke scored a career-high 24 points and Kennesaw State defeated NAIA member Southeastern 90-72 on Thursday.
Obineke, a 6-foot-8 freshman, was 11-of-19 shooting. Tyler Hooker was 7 of 11 and added 20 points and six assists. Freshman Danny Lewis scored a career-best 17 points and Kosta Jankovic 13 as the Owls (3-10) shot 55 percent, making 36 of 65 shots, only nine attempts coming outside the arc. The Owls outrebounded Southeastern 49-29.
Seibring’s double-double leads Elon past Kennesaw St.
KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) — Tyler Seibring had 24 points and 12 rebounds, Steven Santa Ana added 21 points and Elon defeated Kennesaw State 76-67 on Tuesday night.
Tyler Hooker led Kennesaw State (2-10) with 18 points but missed all seven of his 3-point tries. Kosta Jankovic scored 17 for the Owls, including 3 for 6 beyond the arc.
Hooker leads Kennesaw St. past Div.-III Oglethorpe 68-57
KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) — Tyler Hooker scored 25 points with four rebounds and five steals and Kennesaw State outlasted Division III Oglethorpe University 68-57 on Wednesday night.
Hooker was 8 of 16 from the field for the Owls. Ugo Obineke added 17 points, Kosta Jankovic had 12 points and five rebounds. Bryson Lockley and Isaac Mbuyamba each had nine rebounds.
Kennesaw State outrebounded Oglethorpe 45-24, leading to 15 second chance points.
Jankovic’s career-high 19 points sparks Kennesaw State win
KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) — Kosta Jankovic scored a career-high 19 points on 9-of-13 shooting and Kennesaw State cruised to a 98-75 victory over Carver Bible College on Tuesday night.
Jordan Jones and Nick Masterson added 16 points each for the Owls (4-11). James Scott scored 13 with five assists and Anthony Wilson had 12 points for Kennesaw State, which shot 58 percent (40 of 69) from the field and won the rebound battle 42-25.
Kennesaw State holds on to beat Samford 71-66
KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) — Tyler Hooker nailed a trey and added two free throws in the final minutes to give Kennesaw State a 71-66 victory over Samford on Thursday night.
Samford's Alex Peters drove for a layup to give the Bulldogs a 64-63 lead with 1:40 left. Hooker scored five straight for a 68-64 lead and Kosta Jankovic added a free throw. Samford's Justin Coleman missed a 3-point attempt in the final seconds.
Gustys, Wright-Foreman lead Hofstra to 75-57 win
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) — Rokas Gustys had 14 points and 13 rebounds as Hofstra started strong and pulled away from Kennesaw State to take a 75-57 win in the first meeting between these schools on Monday night.
Gustys, who was 5 of 9 from the field, had his 35th career double-double and added seven offensive rebounds. Justin Wright-Foreman added 16 points after leading all scorers with 25 in the Pride's season-opening 77-74 win over Army. Eli Pemberton came off the bench to chip in 12 points.
