Doolittle helps OU stop 5-game skid in 71-62 win over TCU
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Kristian Doolittle was on his way to just his second 20-point outing of the season when the Oklahoma forward made one of his biggest plays of the game.
Doolittle's career high-tying fifth assist led to an easy layup after TCU had whittled a 10-point deficit to four for the second time in the last eight minutes, and the Sooners went on to end a five-game losing streak with a 71-62 victory over the Horned Frogs on Saturday.
No. 23 Oklahoma tops No. 25 TCU 76-74 on Doolittle’s shot
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Back from suspension and back in the swing of things, Kristian Doolittle delivered for No. 23 Oklahoma on Saturday.
Doolittle hit a runner with less than three seconds left to lift the Sooners over No. 25 TCU 76-74, the latest sign that the junior is back to the form that made him a budding standout as a freshman.
Doolittle averaged 9.1 points per game over 25 starts his first year, but a suspension to start last season slowed his progress.

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Oklahoma's defense showed up as usual, and it did just enough on the other end.
Kristian Doolittle had 16 points and eight rebounds, and No. 23 Oklahoma beat Oklahoma State 74-64 on Saturday.
Oklahoma State, which entered the day leading the Big 12 in 3-point percentage at 39 percent, went 6 of 26 from long range. The Cowboys shot just 34 percent overall.
Oklahoma gets past Northwestern 76-69 in OT
EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — Kristian Doolittle scored three straight key baskets late in overtime, and Oklahoma defeated Northwestern 76-69 on Friday night for its seventh straight win.
Doolittle, who finished with a team-leading 14 points, connected on layups 50 seconds apart, then added a close-in jumper with 19 seconds left in overtime to make it 74-69. Miles Reynolds sealed it with layup with three seconds remaining.
Manek scores 18, helps Oklahoma hold off Creighton 83-70
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Oklahoma's quality depth overwhelmed Creighton.
Brady Manek matched a season-high with 18 points, and the Sooners defeated the Bluejays 83-70 on Tuesday night.
It was a typical balanced effort for the Sooners. Christian James had his fourth straight double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, Kristian Doolittle and Rashard Odomes registered season highs with 13 points apiece and Miles Reynolds also scored 13 for the Sooners (10-1).

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Oklahoma forward Kristian Doolittle has been suspended from the university for the fall semester for failing to meet academic standards.
Doolittle started 25 games last season and averaged 9.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game last season as the team went 11-20.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Vladimir Brodziansky had 20 points, Kenrich Williams added 19 and eighth-seeded TCU rolled to an 82-63 win over No. 9 seed Oklahoma on Wednesday night in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament.
Alex Robinson added 17 points and Jaylen Fisher had 11 for the Horned Frogs (18-14), who used a 15-2 run to close the first half and assume control, then punched the Sooners (11-20) again with a big run in the second half to put the game away.

Star high school point guard Trae Young commits to Oklahoma
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Five-star Norman North point guard Trae Young verbally committed to Oklahoma on Thursday.
The McDonald's All-American, who is averaging 43 points per game as a senior, made the announcement during a ceremony at his school. He picked the Sooners over Oklahoma State and Kansas.
Young is coach Lon Kruger's biggest catch — Buddy Hield wasn't nearly as highly recruited coming out of high school.
Jones hits 3 with 1.8 left, Texas beats Oklahoma 84-83
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Andrew Jones had no idea how far behind the 3-point line he was stationed as he released the shot. But he knew this: far enough to avoid interference.
Jones made a 25-foot basket with 1.8 second remaining, and Texas pulled off a miraculous 84-83 win over Oklahoma Monday night to snap a five-game losing streak.
Burton’s 31 points lead Iowa St. over Oklahoma in 2OT
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Iowa State coach Steve Prohm liked what he learned about his team on Saturday.
Deonte Burton scored a career-high 31 points, and Iowa State rallied from a 19-point first-half deficit to beat Oklahoma 92-87 in double overtime.
"I just want to say how proud I am of these guys," Prohm said. "All of them. They go in tough situations and build their character. Our character is what we try to highlight every day."
Wichita State hangs on for 76-73 win over Oklahoma
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Wichita State's Daishon Smith went up, then went up some more before uncorking a powerful dunk that gave the Shockers momentum against Oklahoma.
The 6-foot-1 Smith's jam over 6-7 Kristian Doolittle gave the Shockers a 55-50 lead with 8:28 remaining and provided the spark the Shockers needed to hold on for a 76-73 win Saturday afternoon in the All-College Classic.
Doolittle, Woodard lead Oklahoma past Northern Colorado
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Oklahoma coach Lon Kruger doesn't expect his Sooners to reach last year's Final Four-level status immediately with so many new faces.
That's why he's fine with the baby steps they took on Tuesday. Freshman Kristian Doolittle scored 17 points to help Oklahoma defeat Northern Colorado 87-66.
The young Sooners have three new starters, and four freshmen played at least 10 minutes against the Bears.
