SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Donovan Mitchell was finding his teammates in all sorts of ways. One of his career-high 11 assists looked as if it belonged on the diamond instead of the court.
"I got back to my old ways," said Mitchell, who pitched and played shortstop in high school. "It was just making a play, making a read and Georges (Niang) was wide open and a two-hand pass just wouldn't have worked."

LOS ANGELES (AP) — After going 9-12 through the first two months of the season, the Utah Jazz are moving up.
Donovan Mitchell scored 28 points in Utah's 129-109 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night for its first five-game winning streak of the season.
Mitchell, coming off Western Conference player of the week honors, has averaged 30.3 points over his last six games.
The Jazz are 8-2 in their last 10, matching Golden State's record as the best in the West over that stretch.
Gobert grabs 25 rebounds as Jazz beat Pistons 100-94
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Donovan Mitchell and the Utah Jazz discovered an unusual motivator Monday night.
All game long, Mitchell heard a persistent heckler in the Utah crowd.
"That loud kid on the sideline. It was really his fault," Mitchell said after scoring 28 points to propel the Jazz to a 100-94 victory over the Detroit Pistons. "I don't know why people like that have to keep talking. I just had to shut him down."

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — After struggling early amid high expectations, the Utah Jazz feel like they're finding their rhythm once again.
Ricky Rubio had 24 points and eight assists to lead the Utah Jazz to a 120-90 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night. Kyle Korver scored 18 points and Jae Crowder added 16 as the two combined to shoot 7 for 14 on 3-pointers.

NEW YORK (AP) — Alec Burks had a more productive visit to Barclays Center than his last one.
Playing just his third game for Cleveland after a trade from Utah, Burks threw down a two-handed dunk with 3.2 seconds remaining, and the Cavaliers avoided a fourth-quarter collapse and edged the Brooklyn Nets 99-97 on Monday night.

Cavaliers trade Kyle Korver to Jazz for picks, Burks
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cavaliers finalized their trade with Utah and sent Kyle Korver to the Jazz.
The teams agreed to the deal on Wednesday and completed the transaction Thursday following a conference call with NBA officials. Cleveland shipped Korver to the Jazz for guard Alec Burks and second-round draft picks in 2020 and 2021.

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Cavaliers are dealing with so many injuries they needed an assistant coach to suit up for practice Monday.
A little over 24 hours later they did just fine with their healthy players.
Jordan Clarkson scored 24 points, Tristan Thompson had 21 rebounds and 11 points, and Cleveland won for the second time this season, beating the Charlotte Hornets 113-89 on Tuesday night.
Korver, Osman out for Cavs, now down 5 rotational players
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cavaliers have a starting lineup wearing street clothes.
Forwards Kyle Korver and Cedi Osman will miss Tuesday night's game against the Charlotte Hornets, meaning Cleveland is without five rotational players in a season that has quickly gone from bad to worse.
The 37-year-old Korver has been slowed by foot soreness that has bothered him the past two seasons, while Osman will miss his second straight game with back spasms.
As preseason winds down, NBA stars are getting some rest
Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward's preseasons ended early.
And they weren't alone around the NBA on Saturday, either.
The Boston Celtics left the biggest two stars on their roster — both of whom are coming off serious injuries, and now apparently dealing with far more minor ones — out of the lineup for their preseason finale at Cleveland.

Just minutes after reports of the Green Bay Packers adding tight end Jimmy Graham surfaced, more shocking news popped up in Green Bay, as the Packers will reportedly release longtime wide receiver Jordy Nelson, according to ESPN. NEW YORK (AP) — LeBron James had 23 points and 12 assists, Kyle Korver scored 19 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter to spark a huge comeback, and the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the New York Knicks 104-101 on Monday night.
James also had a technical foul after a first-quarter altercation with Frank Ntilikina and Enes Kanter, which seemed to charge up the Knicks as they built what became a 23-point lead late in the third quarter.

DALLAS -- The Cavaliers beat a bad team Saturday night, but wasn't in a position to draw any distinctions from a much-needed win.
Kevin Love scored 29 points to go with 15 rebounds and Kyle Korver had 13 fourth-quarter points as the Cavs outlasted the NBA-worst Dallas Mavericks, 111-104. The Mavericks are 2-11. But just last Sunday, Cleveland lost at home to the 1-8 Hawks.
