Quinnipiac lacrosse coach out after hazing allegations
HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) — Quinnipaic has extended the suspension of its men's lacrosse team through the end of the year and says its coach is "no longer with the university."
The team was suspended last month amid allegations of hazing and alcohol use.
The school said in a statement Saturday the suspension was extended through Dec. 31. Spokeswoman Lynn Bushnell adds that individual players have been disciplined. She did not identify the players or specify the punishment.
LIU to unify campuses into 1 Division I sports program
NEW YORK (AP) — Long Island University will unify its Brooklyn and Post campuses into one Division I sports program beginning next year.
Effective in the fall of 2019, the university will elevate seven current Post programs to Division I, including expanding its membership in the Northeast Conference with men's cross country, men's lacrosse and football, which will make the transition to the Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A state prosecutor who helped exonerate three former Duke lacrosse players after they were accused of sexual assault has died.
James Coman died Thursday from heart disease at a hospice in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was 75. His daughter Kimberly Coman Hunter confirmed the death.
Coman and Mary Winstead were special prosecutors appointed by then-North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper to investigate claims by an escort service dancer. She said the players raped her in 2006.

PLATTE CITY, Mo. (AP) — A board member of a Kansas City-area lacrosse team who offered to be a "sex coach" for a female player has pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct.
Platte County prosecutors say 61-year-old James McEnerney, 61, of Overland Park, Kansas, pleaded guilty to second-degree sexual misconduct, a misdemeanor.
UNH to break ground on new soccer, lacrosse facility
DURHAM, N.H. (AP) — The University of New Hampshire plans to break ground on a new soccer and lacrosse facility in August.
The new facility, funded completely by private money, will be built adjacent to Wildcat Stadium on the site of Lewis Field and will be used by university athletic teams and the Oyster River Youth Association. The first phase of construction includes the building of a state-of-the-art synthetic field, perimeter fencing and team benches.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts man has been found guilty of murder in the fatal stabbing of his teenage girlfriend.
Prosecutors say Nickolas Lacrosse, of Springfield, stabbed 17-year-old high school senior Kathryn Mauke 32 times in her own home in February 2015 because he was angry she had broken up with him. A jury found Lacrosse guilty on Wednesday.

NEW CANAAN — St. Anthony’s boys lacrosse star Brennan O’Neill needed barely two minutes Saturday afternoon to start to take the game over at Dunning Stadium.
O’Neill’s first of five goals gave the visitors from Long Island a start. They scored the first four goals, never let New Canaan catch all the way up and beat the Rams 16-7.
It wasn’t all about O’Neill and his cohort of flashy offensive players, though, to New Canaan senior defender Chase Strupp, who wasn’t thrilled with his team’s effort.

It’s always an extremely tight game when the Greenwich and Wilton High School girls lacrosse teams square off and Friday was no different.
The Cardinals fought back from a four-goal halftime deficit and forced overtime, yet the Warriors tallied with just under two minutes remaining in the extra period and posted an exciting 12-11 win over host Greenwich.
DANBURY—Danbury lacrosse goalie Justin Tarsi missed practice time ahead of the Hatters’ showdown with neighbor New Milford with a lingering lower back injury.
It didn’t affect his performance in the slightest, though.
Tarsi made 14 saves, the defense in front of him locked down the Green Wave attack and sophomore Tyler Warren netted a pair of goals as the Hatters earned a 7-4 win in a battle between backlines Friday.
