Tobias Harris hopes to stay a while with his new team after bouncing around the NBA throughout his career.
Harris was the centerpiece of a blockbuster deal the Philadelphia 76ers made early Wednesday morning to bolster their chances at making a run at a championship. The 26-year-old forward was having a breakout season with the Los Angeles Clippers before coming to his fifth team in eight seasons.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Joel Embiid stretched his balky back each time he had a moment's rest.
Those vital health breaks were fleeting — Embiid gutted out nearly 40 minutes, showing again that the days of the All-Star center missing seasons and stretches of games with injuries have become a faded memory.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia rookie Landry Shamet was putting on such a stellar shooting display that Joel Embiid took a seat in the second row to watch it with the rest of the 76ers fans.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Wichita State says it wasn't looking past the University of Central Florida, but it did take a while for the 11th-ranked Shockers to get serious about things, beating the Knights 75-71 in overtime on Thursday night.
Shaquille Morris scored 19 points and Conner Frankamp added 16 for Wichita State.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — After seeing his team cut a 16-point halftime deficit down to four with four minutes remaining, Tulane coach Mike Dunleavy hoped a trap would provide a turnover to make it a one-possession game.
Wichita State senior guard Conner Frankamp did not allow that to happen.
Frankamp scored six points in less than a minute to maintain the buffer the No. 13 Shockers needed to beat the Green Wave 93-86 on Wednesday night.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Wichita State's lead had dwindled to five points when coach Gregg Marshall called a timeout to settle his squad and get key players back on the floor.
The result was a rejuvenated Wichita State that pulled away from Memphis in the 22nd-ranked Shockers' 85-65 win over the Tigers on Tuesday night.
"I just said: 'OK, that's enough. Just relax and execute, and stop turning the ball over,'" Marshall said.
TULSA, Okla. (AP) — In a game reminiscent of many big matchups between former Missouri Valley Conference rivals now reunited, No. 5 Wichita State edged Tulsa 72-69 Saturday before a sellout crowd that was evenly divided between the schools.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — His team had just been blown out, and South Florida coach Brian Gregory grabbed the stat sheet to make sure his players saw a small number that stood out to him.
Landry Shamet, the star guard for No. 9 Wichita State, took just two shots in a 95-57 victory on Sunday.
"Two shots the whole game," Gregory said. "He don't care. I mean, All-American, NBA first-round pick, and he doesn't care about any of that. That's because of the type of high-level program they've built."
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — After watching his team get blown out fairly quickly, Houston coach Kelvin Sampson wished he had spent Thursday night at the movies.
He felt like he was in one as No. 9 Wichita State cruised past his Cougars 81-63.
"You know that movie 'Gladiator'?" he asked. "I felt like one of those guys, like they just threw us in the middle of the ring with no chance."
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — This was the type of debut Wichita State envisioned when it joined the American Athletic Conference.

Rashard Kelly, Conner Frankamp and Austin Reaves each added 11 points for Wichita State (11-2, 1-0).
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall used 12 players in the first half of Friday night's game against Florida Gulf Coast, hoping his 11th-ranked Shockers could spread out the minutes and still win handily.

Shamet scored a game-high 23 points in 33 minutes to lift Wichita State past Florida Gulf Coast 75-65.
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — As No. 11 Wichita State went to the locker room for halftime Tuesday night, there were some dumbfounded looks. The Shockers had just allowed at least 50 first-half points for the third straight home game and trailed Arkansas State.
STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — Wichita State's Landry Shamet did it all, and his Shockers needed every bit of it to hold off a spirited upset bid from Oklahoma State.
The sophomore guard scored a career-high 30 points, and the sixth-ranked Shockers defeated the Cowboys 78-66 on Saturday.
Shamet only had 11 field goal attempts, but he made 14 of 16 free throws, including 10 of 12 in the second half.
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Gregg Marshall was willing to divulge some of the halftime adjustments he made that enabled No. 6 Wichita State to rally past pesky South Dakota State on Tuesday night.
He just wasn't going to replicate the R-rated delivery.
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Facing an opponent that can look like a blur, Wichita State guard Samajae Haynes-Jones was pretty sure he would feel at home Tuesday night.
The quickest Shocker took full advantage, coming off the bench for 31 points to lead No. 8 Wichita State past Savannah State 112-66.
Jones, a junior college transfer, scored 30 points in his first five games this season combined.
"It was just a lot of transition," Haynes-Jones said. "It was fast out there. I enjoyed it."
LAHAINA, Hawaii (AP) — Wichita State has multiple players who can score in many ways, its lineup filled with almost interchangeable parts. What sets the No. 6 Shockers apart is their ability to defend tenaciously.
They did just that in the second half against Marquette on Tuesday, winning 80-66 to reach the title game of the Maui Invitational.
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall was anxious to get a look at the play by play after his No. 6 Shockers defeated College of Charleston 81-63 on Monday night.
He wanted to know exactly what time things went south after Wichita State built a 33-point lead.
"So it was 9:06 left," he said. "We were up 33 with nine minutes left and got outscored 26-11 after that. Those last nine minutes were horrible."
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall would prefer his best big men dominate inside.
But when senior posts Darral Willis, Shaquille Morris and Rauno Nurger combined for four 3-pointers in the first 7 minutes of Friday night's opener against Missouri-Kansas City.
Marshall was not complaining.
"They make them in practice, so I guess it's good," Marshall said. "It certainly opens the floor, and we were getting great looks."
