Reserves lead Braves to 5th straight win, eliminate Phillies
ATLANTA (AP) — Braves manager Brian Snitker gave most of his everyday players some time off a day after Atlanta clinched the NL East.
Lane Adams took advantage of a rare opportunity.
"You see the fun the starters have day in and day out," Adams said. "When I saw my name in the lineup I just wanted to go out, have fun, enjoy it and take it in because this is a special group, a special crowd and a special time for this organization."
Adams’ 11th-inning homer lifts Braves over Marlins 10-8
ATLANTA (AP) — Christian Yelich didn't care about the Washington Nationals' NL East title. He was more concerned with another Miami last at-bat loss.
"As a team, I think you need to look within yourself and say, 'Where does it stop?' " Yelich said. "You can't make excuses. We didn't do our job. We didn't make the plays or get the hits when we needed to. That's on us."
X-rays come back negative on Arenado’s hand
DENVER (AP) — Colorado Rockies slugger Nolan Arenado avoided serious injury after a ball hit off his left hand in the field on Thursday.
X-rays came back negative for Arenado, who held his hand in pain after trying to field a sharp grounder from Atlanta outfielder Lane Adams. The ball hit the same spot where Arenado was hit by a fastball from Miami pitcher Vance Worley four days earlier.
Braves place OF Kemp on DL with hamstring injury
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves have placed outfielder Matt Kemp on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.
Atlanta also recalled outfielder Lane Adams from Triple-A Gwinnett before Saturday night's game at Philadelphia.
The 32-year-old Kemp was injured as he rounded first base after hitting a liner off the wall in the fourth inning of Friday night's 10-3 loss to the Phillies.
ATLANTA (AP) — It was no surprise to see an Atlanta pinch-hitter named Adams head to the plate with the bases loaded in the sixth inning.
The first name, however, may have been unexpected. Sorry Matt, this was Lane Adams' time to shine.
Lane Adams drove in three runs with a bases-loaded double that gave Atlanta the lead, and the Braves beat the struggling Arizona Diamondbacks 8-5 on Saturday night.
ATLANTA (AP) — Lane Adams says he believes the baseball cliche that hitting is contagious.
In the Braves' biggest inning in six years, the hot hitting spread all the way to his spot on the bench.
Adams delivered a pinch-hit, three-run homer in Atlanta's eight-run fifth inning and the Braves held off San Francisco in the ninth to beat the Giants 12-11 in a rain-delayed game Thursday night.
