Jaguars release veteran RB Chris Ivory, saving $3.6M in 2018
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have released veteran running back Chris Ivory, who was ineffective and then inactive late in the season.
Ivory averaged 3.4 yards a carry, finishing with 382 yards and a touchdown last season. He was inactive for four of Jacksonville's final five games. The Jaguars used versatile running back T.J. Yeldon and speedster Corey Grant down the stretch to give rookie workhorse Leonard Fournette breaks.
Jaguars WR Allen Hurns to return after missing last 6 games
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Allen Hurns is expected to play in the regular-season finale at Tennessee, his first action since Nov. 12.
Hurns missed the last six games because of a high-ankle sprain. He was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday, but was removed from the injury report Friday.
Jaguars relying on rookies as injuries to receivers continue
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Dede Westbrook's role with the Jacksonville Jaguars has changed dramatically in the last six weeks.
Even the rookie receiver has been surprised by his rapid rise.
"I never thought in my first year I'd be teaching another guy the playbook," Westbrook said Thursday.
Jacksonville's slew of injuries at the position has Westbrook and fellow rookie Keelan Cole doing more than anyone expected.
With Hurns uncertain, Jags promote Strong to active roster
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have promoted receiver Jaelen Strong to the active roster, an indication Allen Hurns will miss his sixth consecutive game.
To make room on the roster Saturday, the Jaguars (10-4) waived/injured first-year receiver Larry Pinkard (concussion).
Hurns (ankle) practiced in a limited capacity all week and was listed as questionable for Sunday's game at San Francisco (4-10). Fellow receiver Marqise Lee (ankle) already has been ruled out.
Jags rule out WR Lee, list Hurns as questionable for 49ers
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without leading receiver Marqise Lee and could be missing wideout Allen Hurns again at San Francisco on Sunday.
Lee, who has 56 receptions for 702 yards, was ruled out Friday because of a sprained right ankle. He rolled his ankle in the first quarter against Houston last week and missed practice all week.
Jaguars list RB Fournette as questionable against Texans
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette missed practice for the third consecutive day and was listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Houston.
Fournette injured his right quadriceps muscle against Seattle last week, but insisted Thursday he would play.
Coach Doug Marrone hinted at same, saying "you're at a point now in the season where it's just a matter of being cautious."
Jaguars activate WR Westbrook, S Pryor, promote WR Pinkard
