NEW YORK (AP) — Two years ago he made the whole world dance with "Despacito," but Luis Fonsi says he is still a romantic singer and is ready to show "all his cards" Friday with his new album, "Vida."
Bad Bunny surprises fans for Christmas with first album
MEXICO CITY (AP) — Bad Bunny has a very special Christmas present for his fans: "X 100PRE," his first album with 13 new songs, including his new single "Solo De Mi."
"For every artist is a dream to release an album and that people listen to it," the Puerto Rican star said in a recent phone interview from a hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico, while enjoying the pool.
J Balvin: ‘I’m not a saint’
CNCO marvel at their rapid success
MONTICELLO, Minn. (AP) — The idea came from a problem Hallie Leffingwell was having when she was a competitive kickboxer.
"When I was fighting, I was often told I was robotic in my movements," she said. "So they told me to listen to Latin music when I was working out. I couldn't help but move my hips and it would help me flow a little bit better with my movements.
Leffingwell said listening to the music was a lot of fun.

J Balvin talks Beyoncé, worldwide success and ‘cool vibes’ at RodeoHouston
J Balvin utters just one word when I tell him upwards of 70,000 people could show up Tuesday night for his RodeoHouston debut.
"Wow," he says.
"I didn't know it was that many people."
The reggaeton superstar shouldn't be so surprised. He's emerged as one of Latin music's freshest and most vital voices over the last few years. His song "Mi Gente," which translates to "My People," was one of 2017's biggest hits, thanks in part to an assist from Houston's own Beyoncé.
NEW YORK (AP) — Grammy-winning Latin rapper Residente will receive the BMI Champion Award at the BMI Latin Awards this month.
The performing rights organization says in a statement Tuesday that Residente will be the first act to receive the honor in the 25-year history of its Latin Awards. The event takes place March 20 in Beverly Hills, California.
Residente is best known for his work in the Puerto Rican rap group Calle 13. He is the most decorated Latin Grammy act of all time with 24 wins.
BMI to honor Luis Fonsi for ‘Despacito,’ other career hits
NEW YORK (AP) — The annual BMI Latin Awards will honor Luis Fonsi not only for his mega smash "Despacito" but for the string of hits he's racked up over two decades.
Fonsi is set to receive the BMI President's Award on March 20 in Beverly Hills, California.
BMI says it is honoring Fonsi for being one of the "most influential" Latin music songwriters and also for his humanitarian work. The Puerto Rican singer was involved with helping the island after last year's devastating hurricane.
Bruno Mars has a magical night at Grammys, winning 6 for 6
NEW YORK (AP) — Bruno Mars owned the Grammys with his R&B-inspired album "24K Magic," winning all six awards he was nominated for at a show where hip-hop was expected to have a historical night.
Jay-Z, the leading nominee with eight, walked away empty handed Sunday — a year after his wife lost album of the year to Adele, causing fans and peers to criticize the Recording Academy for not properly rewarding Beyonce's bold "Lemonade" project.
Black, Latino acts rule Grammy noms with Jay-Z in front seat
NEW YORK (AP) — The Recording Academy sent a clear message when they announced the nominees for the 2018 Grammys: They want to see a black or Latino act have a better shot at winning in the major categories.
Black and Latino musicians dominated in the top four categories, including album and song of the year, giving those acts who perform rap, R&B and Latin music a strong chance at taking home the biggest awards, usually reserved for pop, rock and country musicians, or white artists.
Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's 'Despacito' won the most awards at the 2017 Latin GRAMMYs.
The pair's remix featuring Justin Bieber picked up Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best Urban Fusion Performance and Short Form Music Video at the ceremony held at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena on Thursday night (16.11.17).
Latin music is having another moment en el sol. (That's "in the sun," in case you're wondering.)
Luis Fonsi's "Despacito" and J Balvin's "Mi Gente" are two of the year's biggest tunes in any language. More than half of YouTube's top 10 most popular songs are from Latin acts. In Houston (and beyond), Spanish-first superstars regularly fill up Toyota Center and Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land.
And much of it is thanks to Gloria and Emilio Estefan.

Known simply as Selena, the singer-songwriter broke barriers for women in Latin music. She opened the floodgates for a new generation of contemporary artists of Latin descent who would go on to enjoy huge popularity with mainstream American audiences.

Carey's song reigned at the top spot in 1995 and 1996.
Gilberto Mendez Lainati and his father, Gilberto Mendez Mendez of Santiago de Cuba, the island's second-largest city, brought their hand-made guitars, ukuleles and laúds to the tent at Jazz Fest where Cuban arts, crafts and music are on display. Apologizing for his English to a reporter who knows about five phrases in Spanish, the younger man explained why he came.
Tito Puente Jr. and his Latin Jazz Band are coming to shake things up at the Palace Danbury on Saturday, April 22, with the sounds of salsa, merengue, mambo and more.

MIAMI (AP) — You could call it the most intimidating performance of Emily Estefan's life.
That day, she had to sing for her mother. But not just any proud, nurturing mother. Rather, a proud, nurturing mother who also happens to be pop and Latin music superstar Gloria Estefan.
