Jets LB Martin out vs. Lions, WR Kearse and S Maye doubtful
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — New York Jets outside linebacker Josh Martin has been ruled out Monday night at Detroit because of a concussion.
The Jets also announced Saturday that wide receiver Jermaine Kearse (abdomen) and safety Marcus Maye (foot) are doubtful to play.
With Martin sidelined, New York promoted rookie outside linebacker Frankie Luvu from the practice squad and waived fullback Lawrence Thomas.
NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Jets have tendered wide receiver Quincy Enunwa at the second-round level, worth $2.9 million.
Enunwa was a restricted free agent after missing last season with a bulging disk in his neck that required surgery. He had a breakout season in 2016, catching 58 passes for 857 yards and four touchdowns.
From DL to fullback, Jets’ Thomas makes big switch
Lawrence Thomas is no longer a secret weapon for the New York Jets.
The big defensive lineman has also been used through the first few weeks of the season as a fullback, and even had a 15-yard reception against Miami two weeks ago. Thomas performed so well in the role that the Jets made the move more than just a wrinkle in the offense by changing his jersey number from 97 to 44.
Jets’ Lawrence Thomas draws inspiration from fallen friend
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — Lawrence Thomas stops each day in front of the large framed photo that's hanging in his home and speaks to the man he considered a brother.
The New York Jets defensive end — and sometimes fullback — lets Mylan Hicks know that he's always thinking of him. It's also a reminder to Thomas that his childhood buddy and former high school and college teammate is watching over him.
Jets sign DL Thomas, OLB Bishop from practice squad
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets have promoted defensive lineman Lawrence Thomas and outside linebacker Freddie Bishop from the practice squad.
The team also announced Saturday that linebacker Edmond Robinson has been waived/injured.
Both Thomas and Bishop will be eligible to play against the Raiders on Sunday in Oakland.
Jets add familiar face, sign WR Jeremy Kerley to 1-year deal
NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Jets added a familiar face to their receiving group.
Veteran wide receiver Jeremy Kerley was signed Tuesday to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team for which he played his first five NFL seasons.
To make room on the roster, the Jets waived fullback Julian Howsare — leaving them without a player at that position.
Jets sign WR/KR Jeremy Ross, place DL Lawrence Thomas on IR
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets have signed wide receiver/kick returner Jeremy Ross and placed defensive lineman Lawrence Thomas on injured reserve with a torn labrum.
Ross was with the Jets in training camp, but was among the team's final cuts. He will replace rookie Jalin Marshall, expected to be sidelined a few weeks with a torn labrum, as New York's primary returner.
