Dolphins likely to add WRs Danny Amendola, Albert Wilson
MIAMI (AP) — The Miami Dolphins are ready to add two receivers after trading Jarvis Landry, and the likely newcomers include one of Tom Brady's favorite targets.
MIAMI (AP) — The Miami Dolphins appear ready to move on without their defensive anchor.
Miami is discussing releasing five-time Pro Bowl tackle Ndamukong Suh when the NFL's new year begins Wednesday, a person familiar with the situation said Monday. The person said nothing has been finalized, and confirmed the conversations to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Dolphins have not commented.
Dolphins’ Maxwell inactive vs. Saints; Tankersley to start
LONDON (AP) — Cornerback Byron Maxwell is inactive for the Miami Dolphins' game against the New Orleans Saints at Wembley Stadium on Sunday after injuring a hamstring in the team's walk-through the day before.
Maxwell will be replaced in the starting lineup by rookie Cordrea Tankersley, a third-round draft pick out of Clemson who will be making his debut after being inactive the first two games.
Dolphins’ Timmons apologizes to team, fans for going AWOL
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Linebacker Lawrence Timmons apologized publicly to the Miami Dolphins and their fans for going AWOL on the eve of the season opener, but declined to say it won't happen again.
Coach Adam Gase said his trust in Timmons has been restored, and the veteran might play Sunday against the New Orleans Saints in London.
The Dolphins’ vanishing linebacker is back. Yesterday, Miami lifted the suspension of Lawrence Timmons after one week, and he’s eligible to play Sunday against the New Orleans Saints in London, according to a source.
Timmons was suspended indefinitely after he went AWOL the day before the Dolphins’ season-opening win at the Los Angeles Chargers. The Dolphins filed a missing person report before making contact with the 11th-year veteran, who apparently was dealing with a personal matter.

AWOL linebacker Lawrence Timmons wanted to rejoin the Miami Dolphins. Instead, they suspended him indefinitely and traded for a replacement, moves that signal his disappearance from the Dolphins' defense may be permanent. The Dolphins announced Timmons' suspension in a one-sentence news release yesterday, a day off for the team. They also acquired linebacker Stephone Anthony from the New Orleans Saints for a fifth-round draft pick in 2018. Anthony, who has been nursing a sprained ankle, fell out of favor with the Saints after they took him with the 31st overall pick in the 2015 draft. Timmons' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, declined to comment on the suspension. Coach Adam Gase was angered by the disappearance of the eleventh-year veteran, which occurred Saturday in Los Angeles the day before Miami's season opener at the Chargers.
Gase leaves open possibility of Timmons rejoining Dolphins
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase says he'll decide later whether to let linebacker Lawrence Timmons rejoin the team.
Timmons was suspended indefinitely after he went AWOL Saturday, the day before the Dolphins' season-opening win at the Los Angeles Chargers. When asked about violations of team culture, Gase left open the possibility of Timmons returning.
"Every situation's different, and I would say that you can be forgiven if the right steps are taken," Gase said.
Way We Hear It: Miami Dolphins could go after suspended Lawrence Timmons’ money
The Miami Dolphins suspended LB Lawrence Timmons on Tuesday after he went AWOL prior to the Week 2 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The team ruled Timmons inactive for the game and had filed a missing persons report on their linebacker after he failed to show for a team meeting on Saturday, the day prior to the game. Timmons reportedly later was found at the airport and was attempting to fly home.

Timmons’ future with Dolphins uncertain after disappearance
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase is declining to discuss linebacker Lawrence Timmons' future with the team, which may be brief.
Timmons went AWOL Saturday, the day before the Dolphins' season opener at the Los Angeles Chargers. The Dolphins filed a missing person report before making contact with Timmons, who apparently was dealing with a personal matter.
He wasn't with the Dolphins at the game and didn't fly back to South Florida on the team plane after Miami's 19-17 win.

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase decided to risk heavy contact by allowing tackling at practice Monday, and the hitting was so fierce that running back Jay Ajayi suffered a possible concussion.
Ajayi walked off the field accompanied by trainers after several jarring collisions, including one that dislodged linebacker Lawrence Timmons' helmet.
Gase declined to second-guess his decision — at least not with the media.
MIAMI (AP) — Linebacker Kiko Alonso is staying in town, likely at a new position.
Alonso signed a contract extension with the Miami Dolphins through 2020, the team said Tuesday. The deal was announced as free agent linebacker Zach Brown concluded a two-day visit without reaching a contract agreement.
Linebacker was perhaps the weakest area on the Dolphins' defense in 2016, and last week they signed former Steelers middle linebacker Lawrence Timmons to a $12 million, two-year contract.
Free agent LB Jarvis Jones signs with Cardinals
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Free agent linebacker Jarvis Jones signed Tuesday with the Arizona Cardinals.
A first-round draft choice in 2013 out of Georgia, Jones spent his first four years in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but never made a big impact. He played in 50 games with 35 starts and had 125 tackles, six sacks, two interceptions, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Coveted free agent linebacker Dont'a Hightower's tour hit Pittsburgh on Tuesday, but Hightower left the team's facility without signing a deal.
The team announced it hosted him after he spent Monday getting wooed by the New York Jets. Hightower spent most of the day at the team's headquarters, but left early in the evening without a deal imminent.
Hub Arkush: No one shames themselves and their organization like Daniel Snyder and Bruce Allen in Washington
If the first day of NFL Free Agency 2017 felt like the Daytona 500 with cars spinning all over the track at times, day two has been more of a road rally with some oldies but goodies both coming home to roost and electing to choose fresh starts in new environments as they enter their golden years.
But before we talk about players like Julius Peppers, Mike Adams, Lawrence Timmons, Andrew Whitworth and others, we must consider for a moment the disgrace that is the NFL’s Washington franchise.
Dolphins make several moves to upgrade shaky defense
MIAMI (AP) — New Miami Dolphins linebacker Lawrence Timmons says his approach to his job is simple.
"I'm a football player," the 10-year NFL veteran said. "I'm just see-ball, get-ball."
The Dolphins can use more of that after allowing a franchise-record 6,122 yards last season. That's why they made several moves Friday to shore up their defense, including the acquisition of Timmons, who signed a $12 million, two-year contract.
Steelers red-zone D looks to keep opposition out of end zone
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Once opponents get into the red zone, the Steelers take it as a challenge to keep them out of the end zone.
That's part of the reason why Pittsburgh's defense leads the league in stops inside the 20-yard line, including four goal-line stands in the past two weeks, entering Sunday's road game against the Buffalo Bills.
Steelers defense playing important role in turnaround
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Lawrence Timmons leapt into the air to snag an Eli Manning pass and Pittsburgh Steelers teammate James Harrison felt like he was in the middle of a flashback.
For a moment it was the 2009 Super Bowl all over again, the one where Harrison's 100-yard interception return for a touchdown on the final play of the first half helped the Steelers to a victory over Arizona and a sixth Lombardi Trophy.
Browns’ Kessler out with concussion, McCown back as starter
CLEVELAND (AP) — With Browns rookie quarterback Cody Kessler in concussion protocol, Josh McCown will start Sunday against the New York Giants.
Kessler sustained his second concussion since Oct. 23 in Sunday's 24-9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, dropping the Browns to 0-11. Coach Hue Jackson does not know when — or if — Kessler will return this season, and added that will be determined by the team's medical staff.
Browns brutalized in 24-9 loss to Steelers
CLEVELAND (AP) — The losses are now coming with lumps for the Browns.
The 11th one this season was the most painful yet.
Cleveland was manhandled on Sunday by the Steelers, who had eight sacks in a 24-9 battering. Pittsburgh gave Browns rookie quarterback Cody Kessler his second concussion in five weeks, an injury that could end a tough first season for him.
