Kingsley Coman twice equalized before setting up Serge Gnabry's winner early in the second half, taking second-place Bayern up to 48 points before Dortmund's game at last-place Nuremberg on Monday.
Bayern eyeing even brighter future by signing Fiete Arp
BERLIN (AP) — Bayern Munich is trying to ensure its future looks even brighter by capturing another rising star.
Bayern has completed the deal it agreed on last offseason by signing 19-year-old Fiete Arp, the Bild newspaper reports. It just remains to be seen whether Arp joins Bayern after this season or in 2020, when his contract with Hamburger SV expires.
Bayern slips up at Leverkusen, Dortmund held in Frankfurt
BERLIN (AP) — Peter Bosz did all he could for his former side.
Bosz's Bayer Leverkusen came from behind to defeat Bayern Munich 3-1 and end the visitors' seven-game winning run in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
But Borussia Dortmund, which started the 20th round six points clear of Bayern, was unable to take full advantage as it was held at Eintracht Frankfurt to 1-1.
James entering decisive days at Bayern with future unclear
MUNICH (AP) — Leon Goretzka's emergence at Bayern Munich is bad news for James Rodriguez.
James, as he is known, watched from the bench Friday as Goretzka - playing in the Colombian's favored No. 10 position - scored two goals in Bayern's 3-1 victory at Hoffenheim.

SINSHEIM, Germany (AP) — Bayern Munich got the Bundesliga back underway with a 3-1 win at Hoffenheim on Friday to deliver a statement of intent to leader Borussia Dortmund.
Robert Lewandowski sealed the victory late on to cut the gap on his former team to three points after 18 games. It was the defending champion's sixth league win in succession, stabilizing the side after an early-season wobble.
"We're the chasers and we want to hunt them," Bayern coach Niko Kovac said. "We want to be champions."
Goretzka leads Bayern to 3-0 win at Stuttgart in Bundesliga
BERLIN (AP) — Leon Goretzka scored his first goal for Bayern Munich and set up another to lead the defending champions to a 3-0 win at Stuttgart in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Mueller also scored and set up goals as Bayern delivered a statement of intent with a cohesive and committed performance to end Stuttgart coach Tayfun Korkut's seven-game unbeaten run at home.
Weston McKennie thought back to last summer, when he was an 18-year-old midfielder trying to impress at his first preseason training camp with Schalke's first team.
Leon Goretzka, one of the club's leaders, delivered a message.
"I made two bad passes in a keep-away and possession game we were playing, and Leon was like, 'Wes, you've got to make those passes. This isn't the U-19s anymore,'" McKennie recalled. "I was like: Oh, no."
MAINZ, Germany (AP) — Schalke held on to a 1-0 win against relegation-threatened Mainz to consolidate second place in the Bundesliga on Friday.
Daniel Caligiuri scored 10 minutes after the break to lift Schalke four points clear of Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt, which meet on Sunday.
Mainz, which had 16 attempts on goal compared to the visitors' six, remains in the relegation playoff spot with eight games remaining.
Bayern signs Germany midfielder Goretzka from rival Schalke
MUNICH (AP) — Bayern Munich signed Germany midfielder Leon Goretzka on Friday on a free transfer from Bundesliga rival Schalke effective from next season.
Bayern said the 22-year-old Goretzka signed a four-year deal from July 1 through June 2022.
Schalke, which Goretzka joined in 2013 from hometown club Bochum, said the player informed the club this week of his wish to join Bayern when his contract expired.

GELSENKIRCHEN, Germany (AP) — Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel has criticized league rival Bayern Munich for making public comments in praise of Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka.
Heidel is annoyed with Bayern counterpart Hasan Salihamidzic in particular for saying on Wednesday that "it's clear that Leon Goretzka is a really good player. He is a Schalke player and of course we respect that. He is a German national team player, and we can also say that we are interested."

GELSENKIRCHEN, Germany (AP) — Leon Goretzka scored again to lead Schalke to a 2-0 win over Mainz and fourth place in the Bundesliga on Friday.
He fired the home side into an early lead when Guido Burgstaller sent him through to chip the ball over the goalkeeper in the 13th minute.
It brought Goretzka's scoring streak to three consecutive games for Schalke. He also scored twice recently for Germany in a World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan. He has six goals in 12 games for the national side.

Defeat increased the pressure on coach Tayfun Korkut, who has only one win in eight games since taking over in March from the sacked Roger Schmidt. Leverkusen had been 10th, seven points above the relegation zone, when Schmidt was fired. Now its 12th, and just four points clear.
