Thailand keeping ‘The Beach’ of movie fame closed for rehab
BANGKOK (AP) — Authorities in Thailand said they have decided to indefinitely extend the closure of a beautiful bay made famous by the Leonardo DiCaprio movie "The Beach" until it recovers from years of environment damage caused by too many tourists.
They had announced in March that tourists would be barred from Maya Bay from June 1 to Sept. 30.
Burt Reynolds, star of film, TV and tabloids, dead at 82
Burt Reynolds, the handsome film and television star known for his acclaimed performances in "Deliverance" and "Boogie Nights," commercial hits such as "Smokey and the Bandit" and for an active off-screen love life which included relationships with Loni Anderson and Sally Field, has died at age 82.
His death was confirmed Thursday by his agent Todd Eisner. In a statement, his niece, Nancy Lee Hess, called his death "totally unexpected," although she acknowledged he had health issues.

CONCRETE, Wash. (AP) — A western Washington state town has selected a design for its new flag.
The Skagit Valley Herald reports that the Concrete Town Council earlier this month selected a design by Concrete High School senior Becky Azure.
The flag shows Sauk Mountain in the background and the town's towering industrial silos in front. Azure says those are the most recognizable features of the town.
A professional designer will next refine the flag design.
