Fabregas winner helps struggling Monaco beat Toulouse 1-0
PARIS (AP) — Cesc Fabregas struck the winner for struggling Monaco in a much-needed 2-1 home win against Toulouse in the French league on Saturday.
The former Chelsea, Barcelona and Arsenal midfielder latched onto a loose ball in the penalty area following good work down the left from Gelson Martins, and thumped the ball in just under the crossbar midway through the second half.
Monaco lose on penalties at Guingamp in Jardim’s 1st match
GUINGAMP, France (AP) — Leonardo Jardim's return as Monaco coach started with a loss on penalties to Guingamp in the League Cup semifinals on Tuesday.
Guingamp fought back from two goals down against 10-man Monaco to make it 2-2 at full time and won 5-4 on penalties to book a spot in the final against either Strasbourg or Bordeaux.

France's all-time leading scorer and an Arsenal great landed his first managerial job on Saturday after Monaco hired him as a replacement for Leonardo Jardim, who was dismissed this week.
The 41-year-old Henry started his professional career at the Riviera club and played in the French league with Monaco from 1994-99.
He's signed on as coach for three seasons, to June 2021. He starts on Monday.

PARIS (AP) — Rennes and Monaco played to a 1-1 draw Wednesday that moved Paris Saint-Germain closer to the Ligue 1 title.
Joris Gnagnon beat the offside trap to open the score for Rennes with a left-footed volley in the 20th minute.
Rony Lopes equalized for Monaco nine minutes later with a right-footed shot. Monaco managed just two shots on target.
PARIS (AP) — Forward Stevan Jovetic continued his good scoring form as Monaco won 3-1 at Strasbourg on Friday to strengthen its grip on second place in the French league.
Jovetic has stepped up well for injured top scorer Radamel Falcao in the last few games and has seven goals in 14 league games overall. Falcao recovered from a left thigh injury to take his place on Monaco's bench, but coach Leonardo Jardim chose not to bring him on with Monaco in control at halftime.

MONACO (AP) — Striker Cenk Tosun scored twice as Besiktas won 2-1 away to Monaco for a third straight win to move closer to qualifying for the Champions League knockout stage on Tuesday.
