Texas making late drives to win games
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Game after game, Sam Ehlinger and the Texas offense keep putting together game-clinching or game-winning drives.
The latest came this past weekend with Ehlinger's touchdown pass to Lil'Jordan Humphrey with 29 seconds left to beat Texas Tech.
Before that was the drive for the game-winning field goal against Oklahoma. There was a drive to run out the clock in a close win over Kansas State. And even a win over Tulsa required a fourth-quarter touchdown drive to kill a rally.
Ehlinger’s 4th TD lifts No. 15 Texas to 41-34 win at Tech
LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Sam Ehlinger had gotten No. 15 Texas down the field with some nifty runs. The sophomore quarterback then took a shot at the end zone — and got the winning pass.
Lil'Jordan Humphrey outleaped a defender inside the 5 and then pulled him along to the end zone for a 29-yard touchdown with 21 seconds left, giving the Longhorns a 41-34 victory over Texas Tech after blowing a 17-point lead in the fourth quarter.

WHAT'S AT STAKE?
Texas can get bowl-eligible with a win. That hasn't happened for the Longhorns in mid-October since 2009. A Baylor win would knock the air out of Texas' surge back to the top of the Big 12 and would put the Bears back among the league front-runners in coach Matt Rhule's second season.
Big receivers making the big plays for No. 9 Texas
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Facing third-and-long, Lil'Jordan Humphrey caught a quick pass on a play designed to get Texas a few yards.
Then came a load of Longhorns teammates. Next came the surge.
With his legs churning and Texas pushing, Humphrey and the Longhorns moved the pile another 10 yards. The play picked up 19 yards, Texas converted on 4th-and-2 and finished the drive with a touchdown that would prove critical in a 48-45 win over Oklahoma.
Texas ends 4-year skid against No. 17 TCU 31-16
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas ended four years of humiliation at the hands of TCU and put the rest of the Big 12 on notice: Yes, these Longhorns may indeed be back among the conference title contenders.
With two straight wins over ranked opponents — including Saturday's emphatic 31-16 victory over the No. 17 Horned Frogs — it's probably OK to say that now.
No. 22 USC and Texas both need win to keep season on course
No. 22 USC (1-1) at Texas (1-1), 8 p.m. ET (Fox).
Line: Texas by 3½.
Series record: USC leads 5-1.
WHAT'S AT STAKE?
A game once billed as a blockbuster is now more about survival. Both teams need a big win to launch their season and keep the fans from pushing the panic button early in the schedule. A road win at Texas would be big boost for Trojans freshman QB J.T. Daniels. Second-year Texas coach Tom Herman needs a victory to keep impatient Longhorns fans off his back.
Texas suspends 3 players for Texas Bowl vs Missouri
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas has suspended three players for the Texas Bowl next week against Missouri, the latest challenge in an up-and-down season for first-year coach Tom Herman.
Sophomore receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey, freshman running back Toneil Carter and junior tight end Garrett Gray were benched for Wednesday's game in Houston for an unspecified violation of team rules. Texas also said defensive tackle Chris Nelson will miss the game against Missouri (7-5) with an elbow injury.
