Buffalo Bills cut veteran tight end Charles Clay
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Bills have released underperforming and high-priced veteran tight end Charles Clay.
The move was announced Friday, and did not come as a surprise after Clay's playing time diminished behind Jason Croom and Logan Thomas over the final six weeks of last season. Clay had one season left on a five-year contract, and was due to make a $4.5 million base salary.
Bills RB McCoy questionable with hamstring injury
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy is questionable for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.
McCoy suffered a hamstring injury against the New York Jets last weekend. He missed practice on Wednesday before being limited the past two days.
Running back Chris Ivory is also questionable with a shoulder injury, though Ivory was a full participant in practice all week.
Bills QB Anderson has concussion; Peterman next option
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Quarterback Derek Anderson has been diagnosed with a concussion, leaving open the possibility of the Buffalo Bills starting turnover-prone Nathan Peterman against the Chicago Bears this weekend.
And the Bills on Tuesday signed free agent receiver Terrelle Pryor in a bid to bolster an offense off to the least productive start in terms of scoring in franchise history.
Bills open offseason workouts by signing receiver Kerley
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Bills began addressing their needs at receiver by signing free agent Jeremy Kerley to a one-year contract as part of a series of moves in opening their offseason conditioning program.
Kerley has seven seasons of NFL experience, which include two separate stints with the New York Jets. Overall, he has 268 catches for 3,109 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Kerley will have an opportunity to contend for a backup spot behind Kelvin Benjamin and Zay Jones.
Bills sign tight end Logan Thomas off Lions’ practice squad
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Bills have signed Logan Thomas, a former quarterback who's making the switch to tight end, off of the Detroit Lions' practice squad.
Thomas is listed at 6-foot-6 and 250 pounds and appeared in two games for the Arizona Cardinals as a quarterback in 2014, his NFL rookie season. He also played the position at Virginia Tech, where he finished with 9,003 yards passing with 52 touchdowns and 39 interceptions in 47 games.
Giants awarded defensive tackle Robert Thomas on waivers
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The New York Giants have been awarded defensive tackle Robert Thomas on waivers from Carolina.
The Giants announced the move on Sunday, saying they waived defensive tackle Montori Hughes to make room on the 53-man roster.
Thomas played in all four of Carolina's preseason games and had seven tackles, including two for losses. The Panthers had gotten him on waivers from Miami. He played one game for the Dolphins last year.
