Napoli draws 0-0 against Chievo in blow to title hopes
MILAN (AP) — Napoli's hopes of pushing Juventus all the way in the title race diminished on Sunday and the boos rang out after it was held to a surprise 0-0 draw by bottom-of-the-table Chievo Verona.
Carlo Ancelotti's side is now already eight points behind Juventus, which beat Spal 2-0 on Saturday and looks to be on an unstoppable march to a record-extending eighth Serie A title.
Former Italy coach Ventura hired at last-place Chievo
VERONA, Italy (AP) — Former Italy coach Gian Piero Ventura has been hired by last-place Serie A club Chievo Verona.
It's the first job for Ventura since he was fired nearly a year ago for Italy's failure to qualify for the World Cup.
Chievo announced Wednesday that it has reached a two-year deal with Ventura.
The 70-year-old Ventura replaces Lorenzo D'Anna, who was fired on Tuesday following Chievo's 3-1 loss at AC Milan, the club's sixth loss in eight matches.
First coaching changes in Italy, Spain and Germany
Less than two months in the season, the first coaching changes came in Germany, Italy and Spain on Tuesday.
Genoa, which is mid-table in Serie A, fired Davide Ballardini and brought back Ivan Juric. Last-place Chievo dismissed Lorenzo D'Anna.
The team at the bottom of the Spanish league is also looking for a new coach after the exit of Leo Franco at Huesca.

ROME (AP) — Genoa and Chievo Verona have made the first coaching changes of this season's Serie A.
Genoa, which is in 11th place with a game in hand, fired Davide Ballardini and brought back Ivan Juric on Tuesday while last-place Chievo sacked Lorenzo D'Anna without immediately naming a replacement.
Genoa's move comes two days after a 3-1 loss at home to Parma and with a visit to Italian league leader Juventus next after the international break.
