DIXIE INN, La. (AP) — Louisiana State Police say one jail trusty died and one was hurt when they fell from the bed of a moving pickup truck on a highway.
Trooper Glenn Younger said in a news release Thursday night that 30-year-old Kenneth George of Shreveport and 26-year-old Tyler Hodges of Minden were both on work release from the Webster Parish jail.
Younger says George died and Hodges suffered moderate injuries.

Trooper arrested, charged in use of law enforcement data
BOSSIER CITY, La. (AP) — Louisiana State Police say one of their troopers has been arrested.
State police said in a Monday news release that Trooper John C. Kelly of Troop G in northwest Louisiana faces a charge of felony abuse of office. The release says an investigation showed that Kelly used his access to law enforcement databases for unauthorized activities. The release did not provide details.
It said Kelly was placed on leave when the investigation began in August.

Senior Trooper Dustin Dwight says in an email that 23-year-old Coltin Brennan Leblanc was the man killed early Thursday in Hammond. Dwight tells news outlets Leblanc was shot when a struggle ensued after the trooper had pulled him over.
Police didn't say why the trooper stopped Leblanc. He was treated at the scene but died at a hospital after being taken there in critical condition.
