Man shot and killed on street in Lowell

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan says the shooting happened around 6:20 p.m. on Saturday and the victim died after he was taken to the hospital.

Police investigating dead body found along roadside
WESTFORD, Mass. (AP) — Police are investigating after a woman was founded dead along the side of a road in northern Massachusetts.
The Middlesex County District Attorney's Office says the death is being treated as suspicious because of where the body was found and because the woman wasn't "dressed in appropriate clothing for the cold temperature."
The office says the body was found around 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Westford, a suburb of Lowell near the New Hampshire state line.
Fleming scores 38 points on 18-of-20 shooting; Maine wins
LOWELL, Mass. (AP) — Andrew Fleming scored a career-high 38 points, on 18-of-20 shooting to tie a conference record for makes, and Maine snapped a three-game skid with a 78-59 victory over UMass Lowell on Wednesday night.

18-year-old man fatally stabbed near college campus
LOWELL, Mass. (AP) — Authorities have made an arrest in the fatal stabbing of an 18-year-old man near a Massachusetts college campus.
A spokeswoman for the Middlesex district attorney says the victim was stabbed just after 7 p.m. Monday near the University of Massachusetts Lowell's East Campus.

The bank, based in Lowell, Massachusetts, said it had earnings of 55 cents per share.
The bank posted revenue of $33.2 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $28.9 million, which topped Street forecasts.

WOBURN, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts doctor charged in the death of a woman who overdosed on opioids he prescribed has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter.
Dr. Richard Miron appeared in Middlesex Superior Court on Thursday and was allowed to remain free on his own recognizance. The state attorney general's office says it's the first time the state has charged a doctor with manslaughter for an opioid overdose death.

Second case of measles confirmed in Lowell
LOWELL, Mass. (AP) — Massachusetts health officials have confirmed a second case of measles in Lowell and are warning area residents the person went to several public locations, possibly exposing others to the disease.
The Department of Public Health said Saturday that the second case was diagnosed Nov. 15, a week after the first patient was diagnosed. Officials say there are no known links between the two cases.
Woman pleads guilty to embezzling from nonprofit
