FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A county attorney in North Carolina is one of two men killed in a weekend wreck.
Highway Patrol 1st Sgt. Matt Hardee told news outlets that 34-year-old Patrick Pait of Lumberton was one of the men killed in a head-on collision Sunday in Cumberland County.
Pait had been the county attorney for Robeson County for the last four years.
LUMBERTSON, N.C. (AP) — The driver of a pickup truck that crashed into a North Carolina school bus last week has died from his injuries.
News outlets reported that 20-year-old Samuel Ray Hunt of Lumberton died earlier this week in a South Carolina hospital.
Hunt was flown to McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, South Carolina, after the wreck near Red Springs in Robeson County on May 22.

PEMBROKE, N.C. (AP) — A woman has been arrested and charged with driving while impaired after the North Carolina Highway Patrol said she struck and killed a 4-year-old boy.
Troopers told local media outlets Wednesday that the boy was struck in a parking lot north of Pembroke in Robeson County.
Fifty-five-year-old Nancy Louise Ransom of Pembroke was also charged with felony death by vehicle after the boy was hit by a sports utility vehicle Tuesday afternoon.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A woman has died following an accident at construction site in South Carolina.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts tells media outlets 49-year-old Diane M. Smith of Lumberton, North Carolina, was working on a scissor lift at a construction site on Tuesday afternoon.
Watts says Smith got trapped between the ceiling and the railing of the lift, crushing her. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
