MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed free agent forward Luol Deng, the latest former Chicago Bulls player to reunite with coach Tom Thibodeau.

Deng's one-year deal is for the minimum salary of $2.4 million for a player with his experience, according to a person with knowledge of the contract who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team does not release terms.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Lakers forward Larry Nance Jr. will be sidelined for at least four weeks after having surgery to repair his broken left hand.

Nance had surgery Friday.

The third-year forward broke a metacarpal bone in his hand during the Lakers' loss at Portland on Thursday night. He had started all eight games for Los Angeles this season, averaging 10.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game.

NEW YORK (AP) — Dirk Nowitzki, the career scoring leader among international players, will be one of the captains for the NBA's Africa Game on Aug. 5.
