LYNN, Mass. (AP) — Authorities are investigating a late night fatal shooting in Lynn.
A spokeswoman for the Essex district attorney says police responded to reports of a shooting on Elm Street at about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday.
They found a 29-year-old city man lying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Driver charged in crash that left baby seriously injured
WATERBORO, Maine (AP) — Police have charged a box truck driver for his role in a crash in Maine that left a 10-month old seriously injured.
The crash happened Thursday morning on Route 202 in Waterboro when an SUV was hit from behind by the box truck while attempting to make a left turn.
Witnesses told police the truck driver did not make an effort to slow down before the crash.

The measure covers medical treatments for firefighters diagnosed with cancer and time missed because of the illness.
The Republican touted the law Tuesday in Lynn alongside lawmakers, local firefighters and members of the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts.

Woman charged in Braintree hotel killing
BRAINTREE, Mass. (AP) — Authorities have made an arrest in the death last summer of a 19-year-old woman at a Braintree hotel.
The Norfolk district attorney's office announced Sunday that 19-year-old Juana Rivera, of Lynn, is scheduled to be arraigned on a murder charge Monday on Norfolk Superior Court in the June 22 death of Reina Rodriguez. Rivera was arrested Friday.
Police say Rodriguez, of Lawrence, was found dead inside a room at the Hyatt Place Hotel in Braintree.
Patient tries to grab officer’s gun in hospital

Police were escorting man inside North Shore Medical Center Saturday morning when he tried to take the gun, causing the hospital to activate an armed intruder alert.
WBZ-TV reports Lynn police were able to subdue the suspect within seconds, and that no one was injured.

Widow of man shot by police sues officer, city
LYNN, Mass. (AP) — The widow of a man shot in the head by police in Massachusetts is suing the officer and the city.
Rafael Suazo's widow filed a federal lawsuit this week against the city of Lynn and the detective who shot the 23-year-old during a drug investigation in 2015.
Authorities said Suazo was shot after he drove his car into the plainclothes officer who witnessed an alleged drug deal.
