Combined enrollment at the Macomb and Moline campuses dropped from 11,700 students in 2013 to about 9,400 students in the fall of 2017, the Quad-City Times reported .
MACOMB, Ill. (AP) — Authorities say 41 small animals were found dead inside a closed pet store in western Illinois where the electricity had been disconnected.
Macomb Police Chief Curt Barker said Tuesday that police received a complaint on Saturday about Macomb Pet Land, where officers faced an overwhelming smell of dead animals and ammonia. The dead animals included rabbits, hamsters, snakes and mice. No dogs or cats died.
Barker says 56 animals were found alive and placed in foster care.

The department of theatre and dance will begin offering the program this fall.

MACOMB, Ill. (AP) — A group of teachers and administrators from Myanmar has wrapped up a month-long visit to Illinois.
Twenty-six educators participated in the Educational Leadership Institute, a partnership between Western Illinois University and the International language and Business Centre of Myanmar that started in 2014.
Educators attended classes and seminars to improve teaching methodology and leadership skills. They also visited elementary and secondary schools in the Macomb region.
MACOMB, Ill. (AP) — Western Illinois University has opened a student food pantry after a survey showed a large number of students skipping meals or going hungry.
The university says the pantry opened Thursday and will be available to any student regardless of income.
A group of students studying diet and nutrition sent out a campus survey last year to gauge interest in a food bank. They found that nearly half of students who responded had reported going hungry in the past month.
MACOMB, Ill. (AP) — The board of trustees at Western Illinois University has voted to keep costs for the 2018-2019 school year at current levels.
The decision at a board meeting Friday means undergraduate tuition will stay the same for the third year in a row. The tuition rate for incoming undergraduate students is set at just over $8,500 annually.
The graduate tuition will be the same for the fourth straight year. Room- and meal-plan rates also remain the same for the second consecutive year.

Denver ended its regular season on a four-game win streak. The Pioneers entered Saturday's game tied with Fort Wayne for third, but the Mastodons lost to South Dakota State, 97-90 to fall to fourth.

Hagedorn leads South Dakota past Western Illinois 80-54
MACOMB, Ill. (AP) — Tyler Hagedorn scored 19 points and pulled down nine rebounds, Matt Mooney added 12 points and eight boards and South Dakota cruised to an 80-54 win at Western Illinois on Thursday night.
South Dakota took a 4-2 lead on a Hagedorn layup before the game was two minutes old, stretched it to as many as 31 four times and sent all 14 players into the game.
