Man dies from stab wound to back in downtown Macon park

Bibb County deputies said homeless people who camp at the park found the body Saturday evening.

Georgia mother, teen daughter killed in wreck

Investigation follows shootings involving detained juvenile

Juvenile Justice Commissioner Avery Niles says the boy was being returned to a youth detention center in Henry County Wednesday from a group home in Macon after he failed a testing period to prepare him for release.

Rail cars fall from Georgia overpass; no injuries reported
BYROMVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Rail cars tumbled from an overpass onto a Georgia highway on Saturday, causing an evacuation and traffic headaches in a small town but resulting in no injuries.
CSX Railroad said 30 cars derailed. That included some that fell from the overpass onto Highway 90 at Byromville, roughly 55 miles south of Macon.
Resident Stephanie Chapman said she was on a deer stand more than a mile from town when it happened.

Authorities: Death of woman found in apartment suspicious
MACON, Ga. (AP) — Authorities are calling the death of a woman found inside of a Georgia apartment suspicious.
News outlets report that 62-year-old Mary Robinson's body was found Tuesday morning inside an east Macon apartment.

Child molestation defendant found dead in Georgia park
MACON, Ga. (AP) — A jury was deliberating the fate of a man charged with molesting an 11-year-old girl when his body was found in a Georgia park.
The Macon Telegraph reports 39-year-old Jermaine Bernard Anthony was present when his trial started Monday, but missed court sessions Wednesday and Thursday. Georgia law doesn't require a defendant to be present once a trial has begun, and Anthony had posted bail.
