Shaheen bill would stop drug company ad tax deductions
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen has introduced a bill that would prohibit pharmaceutical companies from claiming tax deductions for consumer advertising expenses.
Under current law, drug manufacturers are allowed to deduct the cost of advertising expenses from federal taxes. A news release from Shaheen's office Thursday said those advertising expenses have more than quadrupled over the past two decades, rising from $1.3 billion in 1997 to $6 billion in 2016.
Warren to hold organizing event in New Hampshire

UNH gets $4 million Preschool Development Grant

The 4th annual Foley Foundation 5k Freedom Run was held Saturday. It raises money for a foundation Foley's parents created after their son's death. Foley, who grew up in Rochester, was kidnapped in northern Syria in 2012 and killed in August 2014.
No pre-trial release for congressional doxing suspect
WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge on Tuesday rejected any sort of pre-trial release for a former congressional staffer accused of posting online the home addresses of Republican senators backing Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court.
Magistrate Judge Deborah A. Robinson ordered that Jackson Cosko remain in custody pending trial. Prosecutors had argued that Cosko, 27, posed a flight risk. No trial date has been set yet.
