Shaheen bill would stop drug company ad tax deductions
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen has introduced a bill that would prohibit pharmaceutical companies from claiming tax deductions for consumer advertising expenses.
Under current law, drug manufacturers are allowed to deduct the cost of advertising expenses from federal taxes. A news release from Shaheen's office Thursday said those advertising expenses have more than quadrupled over the past two decades, rising from $1.3 billion in 1997 to $6 billion in 2016.
Warren to hold organizing event in New Hampshire

No pre-trial release for congressional doxing suspect
WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge on Tuesday rejected any sort of pre-trial release for a former congressional staffer accused of posting online the home addresses of Republican senators backing Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court.
Magistrate Judge Deborah A. Robinson ordered that Jackson Cosko remain in custody pending trial. Prosecutors had argued that Cosko, 27, posed a flight risk. No trial date has been set yet.

The senator on Saturday spoke at a morning dedication of a bridge on the Atkinson-Plaistow border in honor of Dimitrios Gavriel. Gavriel joined the Marines following the 9/11 terrorist attacks and died while serving in the war in Iraq.
Hassan also planned to speak at the afternoon 100th commemorative anniversary of fallen World War 1 lieutenant William Jutras.
New Hampshire gets federal grant to help homeless veterans
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — The state's Democratic congressional delegation says that New Hampshire is getting more than $2.8 million in federal grants to help homeless veterans.
The funding will go toward two New Hampshire nonprofit organizations, Veterans Inc. in Concord and Harbor Homes in Nashua. The organizations provide housing, employment, and supportive services for veterans and their families.
