Fleetwood shoots record 63 at Carnoustie in Dunhill Links
ST. ANDREWS, Scotland (AP) — Tommy Fleetwood broke the course record at Carnoustie by shooting 9-under 63 to tie for the lead with defending champion Tyrrell Hatton after two rounds of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on Friday.
Hatton also tamed the tough British Open venue, shooting 65 to move to 11 under par for the tournament. The English golfers were a stroke clear of Nicolas Colsaerts, and two ahead of Paul Dunne and Marcel Siem.
Otaegui wins Paul Lawrie Match Play for maiden title
BAD GRIESBACH, Germany (AP) — Adrian Otaegui came from behind to beat home favorite Marcel Siem 2 and 1 on Sunday, clinching the Paul Lawrie Match Play for his first European Tour title.
The Spaniard was three behind at the turn, and trailed the German by two with five holes to play. Otaegui won the 14th hole with a par and had three straight birdies on Nos. 15-17 to clinch victory.
Siem on to semifinal with Carlsson at Paul Lawrie Match Play
BAD GRIESBACH, Germany (AP) — Home favorite Marcel Siem came from behind and defeated Robert Rock on the first extra hole to advance to the semifinals of the Paul Lawrie Match Play on Saturday.
Siem was two behind the Englishman going into the last four holes but leveled it up with birdies on the 15th and 16th before sealing victory on the 19th.
Wall recovers to continue defense of Paul Lawrie Match Play
BAD GRIESBACH, Germany (AP) — Defending champion Anthony Wall produced his second big finish in as many days to move into the last 16 at the Paul Lawrie Match Play with a 1-up victory over Haydn Porteous on Friday.
The Englishman, who won the European Tour event when it was staged in Scotland last year, was behind going into the last two holes but won them both for a clash against Ryder Cup winner Jamie Donaldson.
Wall starts title defense with win at Paul Lawrie Match Play
BAD GRIESBACH, Germany (AP) — Anthony Wall holed a long birdie putt on No. 18 to begin the defense of his Paul Lawrie Match Play title with a 1-up victory over Sam Walker in the first round on Thursday.
The Englishman won the European Tour event, his first title in more than 16 years, when it was held in Scotland in 2016. It is being staged in Germany this year and all four German participants — Florian Fritsch, Maximilian Kiefer, Alexander Knappe and Marcel Siem — advanced.
HAMBURG, Germany (AP) — Jordan Smith shot a bogey-free 5-under 67 in the third round to take a two-stroke lead at 12 under in the European Open on Saturday.
The 24-year-old Englishman had five birdies to add to his rounds of 70 and 67 as he claimed the lead for the first time at a European Tour event.
Defending champion Alexander Levy and Jens Fahrbring of Sweden were two shots behind after rounds of 69 and 70, respectively.
