Mike Bryan, Sock win US Open, but remain a temporary team
NEW YORK (AP) — Mike Bryan, now with more Grand Slam doubles titles than any man, can pick his partnership next year.
He can go back to twin brother Bob, who expects to return from a hip injury.
Or he can stick with Jack Sock, keeping together a perfect pairing in Grand Slam tournaments.
"I think Bob is maybe the front-runner if he gets healthy," Mike said.
Sock sure has given him something to think about, though.
Norrie and Clarke split over Wimbledon record near-miss
LONDON (AP) — After being knocked out in the second round of the men's doubles on Friday, Cameron Norrie and Jay Clarke had contrasting emotions over how close they had come to a Wimbledon record.
The British duo came up short in a three-day, 87-game, 5-hour, 2-minute first-round marathon against Hans Podlipnik-Castillo of Chile and his Argentine partner Marcelo Arevalo.

Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina won the women's doubles title at Wimbledon by beating Chan Hao-ching and Monica Niculescu 6-0, 6-0 under a closed roof on Centre Court.
The match started at 9:30 p.m. and lasted 55 minutes.
It was Makarova and Vesnina's third Grand Slam title together. They won the French Open in 2013 and the U.S. Open in 2014.
PARIS (AP) — Even the Bryan brothers could not overcome this French Open's unprecedented penchant for upsets in doubles.
The third-seeded American twins Bob and Mike Bryan lost in the second round at Roland Garros, beaten by Sam Groth of Australia and Robert Lindstedt of Sweden 7-6 (4), 6-3 on Friday.
The Bryans have won a record 16 Grand Slam men's doubles titles as a pair — including two at the French Open, in 2003 and 2013.
