HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) — Cameron Delaney hit a career-high 21 points to lead Sam Houston State to an 85-64 season-opening victory over Division III East Texas Baptist on Tuesday night.
East Texas Baptist led throughout the early going until Delaney nailed a jumper for a 24-23 lead with 8:30 left in the first half. Kai Mitchell followed with a layup and Delaney hit a jumper and followed that with a 3-pointer for a 31-23 advantage.
KATY, Texas (AP) — Marlain Veal scored 21 of his career-high tying 29 points in the second half and finished with seven assists to help Southeastern Louisiana beat Sam Houston State 89-79 on Friday in the Southland Conference Tournament semifinals.
Veal became Southeastern's career leader with 439 assists, moving past Leo McClure (433 from 1973-77).

HOUSTON (AP) — Christopher Galbreath Jr. scored a career-high 33 points with 14 rebounds and Sam Houston State rallied from 14 points down to beat Houston Baptist 85-78 on Saturday night to clinch a Southland Conference Tournament berth.
Josh Delaney scored 14 points with three 3-pointers for the fourth-place Bearkats (17-11, 11-4), who needed a loss by McNeese (9-15, 6-8), which fell 90-74 to New Orleans (14-12, 11-4) on Saturday.
Nicholls holds off Sam Houston State 73-72
THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — Tevon Saddler and Roddy Peters scored 15 points apiece, and Nicholls held on to beat Sam Houston State 73-72 on Wednesday night for its fourth straight win.
Nicholls (17-9, 11-2 Southland Conference) leads the conference by a half-game over Southeastern Louisiana (11-3), which beat New Orleans. Sam Houston State (16-11, 10-4), along with New Orleans (10-4), drops a half-game back of third-place Stephen F. Austin (10-3).

Harris was 14 of 15 from the free throw line, equaling the number of free throws that the Abilene Christian team made. The Bearkats finished with 26 of 32 free-throw attempts.
Galbreath, Sam Houston State knock off SE Louisiana, 75-65
HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) — Christopher Galbreath Jr. scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Sam Houston State knocked Southeastern Louisiana out of a share of first place in the Southland Conference with a 75-65 win on Wednesday night.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Marcus Harris scored 14 points and John Dewey III and Jamal Williams each added 13 as Sam Houston routed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 82-50 in a Southland Conference game Wednesday night.
The Islanders led in the game, but it lasted all of 21 seconds before the Bearkats took the lead and kept on going. Sam Houston held a 28-8 advantage 12 minutes into the game. By halftime Texas A&M-CC had cut the deficit to less than 20, 42-23, but never stemmed the tide.

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) — Jamal Williams had a perfect night from the floor to total 14 points and lead Sam Houston State to a 77-54 victory over NAIA's St. Thomas (Texas) on Thursday night.
Williams nailed all three of his attempts from beyond the arc and finished 5-of-5 shooting from the floor. He also had five assists and two steals for the Bearkats (5-3), who won their fourth straight at home.
Charleston downs Sam Houston 59-49 behind Pointer
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Marquise Pointer scored 12 points, including a go-ahead jumper, Nick Harris scored 11 with eight rebounds, and the College of Charleston beat Sam Houston State 59-49 on Thursday night to win the consolation semifinals of the 2017 GCI Great Alaska Shootout.

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — Former two-time Wyoming All-American and 1996 Biletnikoff Award winner Marcus Harris is being considered for the 2018 National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame class.
Harris is one of 75 former Football Bowl Subdivision players and one of 98 total players from all divisions of college football eligible for selection in this coming year's class.
Harris ranks No. 4 among the NCAA's all-time career leaders in total receiving yards, with 4,518.
