UC Santa Barbara pulls away from Cal Poly 86-61
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) — Leland King II and Max Heidegger scored 23 points each to propel UC Santa Barbara past Cal Poly for an 86-61 win Saturday night.
Jalen Canty added 14 points and Marcus Jackson had 10 for Santa Barbara, which shot 56 percent from the field and got 27 assists on its 34 baskets.
The Gauchos (22-8, 11-5 Big West Conference) took control with two 14-0 runs.
King leads UC Santa Barbara past Cal State Northridge 82-73
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Leland King II had 25 points and 12 rebounds to lead UC Santa Barbara to an 82-73 victory over Cal State Northridge on Saturday night.
UC Santa Barbara (21-7, 10-4 Big West Conference) rebounded from consecutive losses, including a 20-point loss to conference leader UC Irvine on Thursday. CSU Northridge (6-23, 3-12) has lost nine of its last 10 games.
UC Santa Barbara beats Long Beach St 80-70
LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Leland King II scored 20 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, Gabe Vincent added 19 points, and UC Santa Barbara pulled ahead early to beat Long Beach State 80-70 on Thursday night to remain atop the Big West Conference standings.
The Gauchos (20-5, 9-2) have won eight straight and are having their best start since the 1987-88 season.
UC Santa Barbara beats UC Davis in Big West showdown
DAVIS, Calif. (AP) — Leland King II finished with 19 points and 15 rebounds for his 12th double-double of the season and UC Santa Barbara knocked off UC Davis 90-81 in a Big West Conference first-place showdown on Thursday night.
Max Heidegger added 18 points and five assists, Gabe Vincent also scored 18 and Marcus Jackson added 15 points for the Gauchos (19-5, 8-2), who shot 56 percent from the floor and made 11 of 20 3-pointers and 19 of 23 free throws (83 percent).
POCATELLO — Marcus Jackson, a former cornerback for the Idaho State University football team, was destined for a successful career in the National Football League.
Professional scouts reveled at the All-American and All-Conference junior who had a 4.4-second speed in the 40-yard dash.
