Northern Illinois wins 6th straight, beats Toledo 38-15
DEKALB, Ill. (AP) — Marcus Childers ran for two touchdowns and threw for another score to lead Northern Illinois to a 38-15 victory over Toledo on Wednesday night for its sixth straight win.
Tre Harbison ran for 139 yards, and Marcus Jones added 101 yards rushing and a touchdown for Northern Illinois (7-3, 6-0 Mid-American Conference), which snapped a two-game skid against Toledo (5-5, 3-3).
Northern Illinois holds off Ball State 24-16
MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Tre Harbison ran for two scores, Marcus Childers threw for a touchdown and Northern Illinois held off Ball State 24-16 on Saturday.
NIU had a 21-6 lead late in the third quarter, but the Cardinals closed to 21-16 on James Gilbert's 3-yard TD run that was set up by Ray Wilborn's interception. NIU answered with Andrew Gantz's 27-yard field goal for a two-possession game with 5:26 to play.
Troy gets 4th straight win, drops Coastal Carolina 45-21
TROY, Ala. (AP) — Jabir Daughtry-Frye and B.J. Smith combined for over 240 yards rushing and three touchdowns as Troy won its fourth straight, beating Coastal Carolina 45-21 on Saturday.
Marcus Jones returned the opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown and the Trojans never looked back, going ahead 21-0 in the first quarter. They held Coastal Carolina to just seven points in the final half as the defenders finished with nine sacks on the day.
Barker helps Troy keep rolling, 35-27 over UL Monroe
MONROE, La. (AP) — Kaleb Barker threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more and Troy followed up its big win over Nebraska by opening Sun Belt Conference play with a 35-27 win over Louisiana Monroe on Saturday night.

TROY – Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year Marcus Jones, a former Enterprise star and current Troy cornerback/kick returner, bolstered his resume as he was named to the ESPN Freshman All-America Team, the network announced Monday.
Jones is one of just two Group of Five conference players to appear on the ESPN Freshman All-American Team.
Troy’s Brown, Jones earn postseason honors; 17 Trojans named to all-Sun Belt teams
TROY – Troy’s Sun Belt Conference co-champions were well-represented when league honors were handed out Wednesday – including Neal Brown as the Coach of the Year and Marcus Jones as the Freshman of the Year.
The Trojans, who are preparing for the Dec. 16 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl against North Texas, have posted consecutive 10-win seasons under Brown, who is in his third season as the head coach.
Troy scores with 17 seconds left, beats Arkansas State 32-25
JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Brandon Silvers threw two touchdown passes, including the game-winner with 17 seconds left, and Troy beat Arkansas State 32-25 in a wild finish on Saturday night for a share of the Sun Belt Conference title.
TROY – Troy’s Marcus Jones said his offseason training allowed him to return two kickoffs for touchdowns in the Trojans’ last game against Coastal Carolina.
“I came in and was real small and everything like that,” the true freshman from Enterprise said. “I’d pound the weights during the offseason, and (strength) coach (Rafael) Horton just worked with me. ‘Til this day, I’m just working harder to get bigger and faster.”
Coastal Carolina drops ninth straight in 42-17 blowout against Troy
CONWAY — Early turnovers and poor play on special teams doomed Coastal Carolina on Saturday in a 42-17 loss to Troy.
“You feel like you almost have to be perfect to have a chance," Coastal interim head coach Jamey Chadwell said. "But we’re a young team and we’re going to make mistakes.”

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — Marcus Jones scored twice on kickoff returns, Jordan Chunn set a school record with his 46th touchdown and Troy defeated Coastal Carolina 42-17 on Saturday night.
Jones opened the game with a 91-yard return and made the score 14-7 later in the first quarter with an 87-yarder, tying an FBS record held by many.
NIU rallies from 14-point deficit, tops EMU 30-27 in OT
DEKALB, Ill. (AP) — Marcus Jones had the only touchdown in overtime and Northern Illinois scored on three of its final four drives to rally past Eastern Michigan 30-27 on Thursday night.
Eastern Michigan's Paul Fricano missed three field goals, including a 42-yarder at the end of regulation. He opened the extra period with a 35-yard field goal after the Eagles ran three plays. D.J. Brown gained 12-yards along the right side on NIU's first play of OT and Jones won it with a 9-yard run.
TROY – On a night seemingly filled with turnovers and missteps, an early error seemed to set the tone for the entire night. Troy return specialist Marcus Jones fumbled on a first-quarter punt return which set up South Alabama’s first touchdown.

DEKALB, Ill. (AP) — Daniel Santacaterina threw for 252 yards and three touchdowns to lead Northern Illinois to a 38-10 win over Eastern Illinois on Saturday.
Marcus Jones ran in two more scores, both set up by first-half interceptions, as Northern Illinois (1-1) dominated on defense, holding its in-state FCS rival to just 60 yards rushing and 187 overall.
