The deal finalized Monday keeps Sorensen under contract through the 2020-21 season.
The 26-year-old Sorensen is in his third season with the Sharks. He has career highs with eight goals, seven assists and 47 games played.

Evander Kane and Joonas Donskoi each scored two goals, Karlsson had three assists again and the Sharks defeated the Edmonton Oilers 7-2 on Tuesday night.
Karlsson has at least one assist in 14 consecutive appearances. He has 25 points (one goal, 24 assists) during that span, and three assists in each of his last two games.

Sharks re-sign F Marcus Sorensen to 2-year deal
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — The San Jose Sharks have re-signed restricted free-agent forward Marcus Sorensen to a two-year contract Tuesday.
The 25-year-old Sorensen had one goal and three assists in 19 games for the Sharks last season in his first year in North America. He also had 17 goals and 17 assists in 43 games for San Jose's AHL affiliate.
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — The San Jose Sharks have issued qualifying offers to forwards Chris Tierney, Marcus Sorensen and Barclay Goodrow and will retain their negotiating rights as restricted free agents.
The Sharks also announced Monday that they did not issue qualifying offers to forward Nikita Jevpalovs, defender Patrick McNally and goalie Mantas Armalis. Those players will become unrestricted free agents.
Tierney had 11 goals and 12 assists in 80 games last season.
