Review: Film puts a modern spin on ‘Mary, Queen of Scots’
"Mary, Queen of Scots " is an ambitious re-imagining of the Mary Stuart and Elizabeth I saga with modern flourishes and bold performances from Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie. But the film, for all its prestige and edginess, its lofty goals and contemporary messages, is not a particularly engrossing experience.

Margot Robbie has revealed she once prank called Prince Harry.
The 27-year-old actress admitted that her showbiz pal Cara Delevingne - whom she starred alongside in 'Suicide Squad' - once convinced her to play a joke on the flame-haired royal, which involved phoning him up and pretending to be somebody else.
She revealed: "Cara knows Harry and while we were filming 'Suicide Squad' she was like 'Let's prank-call him'.
On a night featuring real-life heroines, many actresses went for something strong and bold on the Oscar red carpet — something metallic.
Jennifer Lawrence, Lupita Nyong'o, Gal Gadot, Salma Hayek and Sandra Bullock literally shimmered in gold and silver gowns. They stood out on a carpet that starred mostly whites and neutrals.
There were bold reds and classic whites, warrior-worthy golds and playful pops of pink and purple on the Oscars red carpet, but the fashion takeaway seemed more about keeping the clothes out of the way so the conversation could turn to pressing matters: Honoring history, standing up for women and supporting diversity.

Rose Byrne’s greatest technical challenge? ‘Peter Rabbit’
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Rose Byrne has done nearly every type of film — physical comedy ("Bridesmaids," ''Neighbors"), horror ("Insidious"), sci-fi ("Sunshine"), period ("Marie Antoinette"), action ("Troy"), musical ("Annie") and superhero ("X-Men: First Class") — so it might come as a surprise that she met her technical match on "Peter Rabbit."
Love Beatrix Potter's original children's story? Then you may want to skip this modern telling of the rabbit tale
There's clever and then there's annoying, and it's important to know the difference. "Peter Rabbit" is more clever than it has any right to be, but too often veers into the realm of the annoying, like a guy who tells a joke, then explains the joke, then explains his explanation of the joke, and so on.

'90s figure skating bad girl Tonya Harding's story is brought to light in this uproariously funny black comedy
There are several ways to tell the tale of Tonya Harding, the Olympic figure skater turned tabloid punchline. "I, Tonya" chooses the most interesting route, turning Harding's story into a frank, uproariously funny dark comedy about dashed dreams, bumbling criminals and a little girl lost in the center of a whirlwind.
What we have in “I, Tonya” is not a standard sports movie but the crazed crossbreed child of “Slap Shot” and “Goodfellas.” Scene by scene, it made me laugh, cringe, get angry, upset, confused, enlightened, entertained, almost tearful and awed.
Movie Minute: 'I, Tonya,' 'Madtown' make long-awaited Cleveland debuts
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- "Star Wars: The Last Jedi"'s rule at the top of the box office appears to be safe this weekend, but the fourth entry in the "Insidious" horror franchise could give it a run for its money.
Margot Robbie has thrown her support behind a new anti-harassment campaign.
The 27-year-old actress has become the latest big-name celebrity to pledge her support to Time's Up by sharing an image on her Instagram account of an open letter written in the New York Times newspaper that calls on women to share their own experiences of harassment.
These are the top 10 films I saw in 2017. (You will have to wait until January for three of them, but theyre worth it!)
1. The Shape of Water: A romantic fantasy packed with magical storytelling, an amphibious man, a mute lady, spy-movie violence and interspecies erotic shenanigans. Guillermo del Toros film plays like a half-dozen cool movies packed into one.
Assault is no laughing matter in this post-Harvey Weinstein landscape, but the back story behind the 1994 attack on ice skater Nancy Kerrigan at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Detroit is such a roiling bouillabaisse of jealousy, greed, cruelty and incompetence that it's difficult not to find some twisted humor in it.
Margot Robbie plans to return to ice rink for Christmas
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Margot Robbie learned to ice skate for "I, Tonya" and loved it, but she hasn't donned skates since, something she said she's hoping to change over the Christmas break.
The actress says ice antics are prohibited by most movie contracts for insurance reasons, and she's been shooting all year.
Now that her work on three upcoming films is done, though, Robbie says getting back on the blades is part of her holiday plans.
