WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) — Marissa Coleman hit a big shot in the final minute against her former team to help the New York Liberty get a much needed win.
Coleman's tiebreaking 3-pointer with 16.1 seconds left gave New York a 78-75 victory over the winless Indiana Fever on Sunday.
Mystics beat Fever 87-82, clinch playoff berth
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Emma Meesseman scored 21 points and Kristi Toliver had 12 of her 18 points in the fourth quarter to help the Washington Mystics beat the Indiana Fever 87-82 on Sunday night to clinch a playoff spot.
Tierra Ruffin-Pratt also scored 18 points, Ivory Latta added 10 and Krystal Thomas had nine points and 11 rebounds for Washington (17-12).
Dupree, Larkins lift Fever to 84-82 win over Lynx
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Candice Dupree scored a season-high 31 points, Erlana Larkins made a putback with 8.2 seconds left and the Indiana Fever beat the Minnesota Lynx 84-82 on Sunday night to snap a five-game losing streak.
Dupree made a career-high 15 field goals on 21 attempts and Briann January scored had 14 points and six assists for Indiana (9-17).
Wheeler’s 20 points leads Fever by Dream 85-74
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Erica Wheeler had 20 points and seven assists, Tiffany Mitchell scored all 14 of her points in the second half and the Indiana Fever beat the Atlanta Dream 85-74 on Thursday night.
Atlanta pulled to 76-72 with 2:09 left but Wheeler answered with her second 3-pointer for a seven-point lead. The Dream's Layshia Clarendon missed a layup and Indiana scored on its next two possessions — on jumpers by Natalie Achonwa and Candice Dupree — to seal it.
Mystics beat Sky, Fever defeat Sparks
ROSEMONT, Illinois (AP) — Elena Delle Donne had 21 points and eight rebounds in her return to Chicago as the Washington Mystics beat the Sky 82-67 on Wednesday.
The 2015 MVP asked to be traded in the offseason after four seasons with the Sky. She opened the scoring with a turnaround jumper from the free throw line and finished 7 of 15 from the floor.
Tierra Ruffin-Pratt added 15 points and 10 rebounds for Washington (2-2).
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Marissa Coleman made five 3-pointers and scored 19 points, Candice Dupree added 18 points and the Indiana Fever overcame a 14-point halftime deficit to beat the Los Angeles Sparks 93-90 on Wednesday night.
Coleman hit an open 3-pointer from the wing to extend Indiana's lead to 89-85, but Candace Parker answered with a 3 at the other end. After consecutive empty possessions, Coleman sank another 3 and Parker made a quick layup to cut it to 92-90.
Indiana sets scoring records in 98-77 victory over New York
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Marissa Coleman scored the first seven points of the game, finished with a season-high 19, and the Indiana Fever matched the WNBA record with 40 points in the first quarter in a 98-77 victory over the New York Liberty on Thursday night.
It's the fourth time in league history a team has scored 40 points in a quarter.
Coleman and Shenise Johnson, who had a career-high 21 points, each hit six 3-pointers and the Fever had with a season-high 14.
