According to a court document, Johnson was among four people indicted Dec. 5 in Cuyahoga County. The document states they "did knowingly cause serious physical harm" to a male victim on or about Oct. 8.
North Carolina State University sophomore guard Markell Johnson has been suspended from the basketball team for an unspecified violation, according to a university spokesperson.
Johnson was suspended for a violation of the student-athlete code of conduct, according to a press release from Craig Hammel, director of athletics communications. The specific violation was not released.
"We will not have further comment on this matter at the current time," Hammel said in the statement.
