Boeser leads Canucks to 5-1 win over slumping Flyers
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Canucks coach Travis Green believes his team benefited from some lucky bounces against the slumping Philadelphia Flyers.
Brock Boeser had a goal and an assist to lead Vancouver to a 5-1 win over Philadelphia on Saturday night.
"It didn't feel like a 5-1 game by any means, but we'll take it for sure," Green said.
Vancouver went 3-8-3 in November, but have turned things around this month with a 4-2-1 start.
Monahan, Lindholm net 3rd-period goals, Flames top Leafs 3-1
TORONTO (AP) — Sean Monahan and Elias Lindholm scored in a 55-second span of the third period to lead the Calgary Flames to a 3-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday night.
Lindholm and Monahan each added an assist as Calgary snapped a three-game losing streak. Michael Frolik added an empty-net goal to seal it. Mike Smith made 24 saves.
Nazem Kadri, playing his 500th NHL game, scored for Toronto. Frederik Andersen stopped 31 shots.
Granlund scores in shootout, Canucks beat Golden Knights 3-2
LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Vancouver Canucks celebrated their annual Father's Trip with a victory in Las Vegas.
Markus Granlund scored in the shootout and the Canucks rejoiced on their special night on the Las Vegas Strip after defeating the Golden Knights 3-2 Wednesday night.
"It was a gutty performance by a lot of our guys tonight," Vancouver coach Travis Green said. "I like how our guys responded and gutted it out. The guys played hard tonight."
Canucks score 4 goals in 3rd, beat Lightning 4-1
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Anders Nilsson had a busy and productive first start of the season for the Vancouver Canucks.
Nilsson stopped 16 of 17 shots in the first period and finished with 33 in the Canucks' 4-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night.
"I had to get going right away," Nilsson said. "I felt confident going in the game. I've been feeling good the last couple weeks so I've been eager to get into a game eventually. I was excited to get the start and get to play."
Baertschi leads Canucks past Capitals for 4th straight win

Canucks top Kings in NHL preseason opener
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Brock Boeser scored at 4:38 of overtime to give the Vancouver Canucks a 4-3 comeback victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday in the first NHL exhibition game of the preseason.
Sven Baertschi tied it for Vancouver with 2:54 left in regulation. Markus Granlund and Jake Virtanen also scored for the Canucks.
Jake Muzzin, Dustin Brown and Oscar Fantenberg scored for Los Angeles.
Vancouver led 2-0 midway through the second period.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — An unlikely performance from journeyman goalie Richard Bachman has the Vancouver Canucks thinking about a playoff push that seemed farfetched just a few days ago.
Bachman made 43 saves, Bo Horvat and Markus Granlund each scored and the Canucks beat the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 on Sunday.
The 29-year-old Bachman got his first win since Oct. 30, 2015, in his first appearance this season for the Canucks.
Sharks get 4-1 win while Canucks battle mumps

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Shayne Gostisbehere's career night helped the Philadelphia Flyers to a morale-boosting victory in their push for a playoff spot.
The second-year defenseman set up each one of his team's goals for his first three-point game in the NHL, and the Flyers beat the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 on Sunday.
"It's good to get some points, but I think it was more important to get the two points for our team," Gostisbehere said. "We really needed those."

Claude Giroux scored the only goal in the shootout to lift the Flyers to a 5-4 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night.

Jacob Markstrom has 32 saves as Canucks beat Avs 3-2
DENVER (AP) — Vancouver goaltender Jacob Markstrom saved his best stuff for last, shutting down Colorado with the game in the balance.
His secret: "Stop the puck, really simple," he quipped.
Markstrom had 32 saves and made three consecutive stops in a shootout, helping the Canucks edge the Avalanche 3-2 on Saturday night.

NEW YORK (AP) — Alexandre Burrows scored twice in the third period to help the Vancouver Canucks end a nine-game losing streak with a 5-3 victory over the New York Rangers on Tuesday night.
Henrik Sedin and Sven Baertschi each had a goal and an assist, and Loui Eriksson also scored for the Canucks, who were 0-8-1 with eight straight regulation losses since opening the season with four wins.
