MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Herb McGee and Josh Ajayi combined to score 44 points as South Alabama held off Arkansas State 70-62 in a Sun Belt Conference game on Thursday night.
The Jaguars split the season series with Arkansas State. The Red Wolves won the first meeting January 10 in Jonesboro, 66-65.
Coastal Carolina beats Arkansas State 77-64
JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Devante Jones and Zac Cuthbertson scored 16 points apiece as Coastal Carolina got past Arkansas State 77-64 on Saturday.
Ajay Sanders added 15 points and six rebounds and Ebrima Dibba had 10 points for the Chanticleers (10-9, 4-3 Sun Belt Conference).

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Marquis Eaton had 24 points and Grantham Gillard scored 20, including four 3-pointers, to help Arkansas State beat Louisiana-Lafayette 94-83 Thursday night in the Sun Belt Conference opener for both teams.
Ty Cockfield added 18 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals and Salif Boudie had 12 points and 11 boards for Arkansas State.
Cockfield powers late run, Arkansas State beats Gardner-Webb
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Ty Cockfield had 23 points and nine rebounds, Salif Boudie added a career-high 21 points and Arkansas State held off a late rally from Gardner-Webb 77-69 on Sunday.
The Bulldogs (2-5) closed the deficit to 67-66 with 1:39 left after a 15-5 run. From there, Cockfield scored all the points in a 10-0 run for the Red Wolves (2-4), making two layups, and 6 of 7 from the foul line.
Cacok scores 17, UNC Wilmington downs Arkansas St. 78-64
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Devontae Cacok scored 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, leading four into double-figure scoring, and UNC Wilmington rallied after halftime for its first win, defeating Arkansas State 78-64 Friday night at the Battle in the Blue Ridge Tournament.
Arkansas State led 32-29 at halftime but the Seahawks (1-3) opened the second on a 15-4 run to lead by eight and outscored Arkansas State 49-32 in the final half.

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Grantham Gillard scored 22 points with seven rebounds, Ty Cockfield scored 17 points and Arkansas State beat NAIA-member Missouri Baptist 89-54 on Monday night.
The Red Wolves built a 40-25 halftime lead and, after the break, expanded on that by outscoring Missouri Baptist 49-29. Gillard and Cockfield each finished with five 3-pointers. Marquis Eaton finished with 13 points, five assists and four rebounds. Tristin Walley scored 10 with three rebounds and three assists.
Arkansas St. upsets Appalachian St., 82-79; tighten Sun Belt
JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Rashad Lindsey hit a jumper with 1:33 left in the game to give Arkansas State the lead and the Red Wolves made it stand up for an 82-79 upset of Appalachian State in a Sun Belt Conference battle Thursday night.
Appalachian State entered the game tied with Troy for seventh place. But after both teams lost and Coastal Carolina posted a 65-60 win over Little Rock, it's now a three-way tie.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Grantham Gillard made five of Arkansas State's season-high 13 3-pointers and scored 23 points and the Red Wolves defeated Little Rock 70-62 on Saturday night.
Arkansas State shot better from the arc (56.5 percent) than overall (51 percent) and even the free-throw line (45 percent). Ty Cockfield and Deven Simms added 11 points each for the Red Wolves (7-13, 2-5 Sun Belt), who snapped a five-game losing streak.
Bruce, Lindsey lead Arkansas State to 99-68 romp
JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Tamas Bruce scored 16 points, Rashad Lindsey added 15 and seven players scored in double figures as Arkansas State defeated NAIA member Culver-Stockton 99-68 Friday night.
The Red Wolves (5-8) shot 36-for-65 from the floor (55 percent), recorded 14 steals, and scored 29 points off 20 Culver-Stockton turnovers. Arkansas State dominated with size and depth, outscoring the Wildcats 42-18 in the paint and 53-13 in points off the bench.
Gillard with career-high 23 leads Arkansas St. to 90-76 win
JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Grantham Gillard had a career-high 23 points and Ty Cockfield added 15 as Arkansas State took control late in the first half and rolled to a 90-76 win over Division II Henderson State to halt a four-game losing skid on Saturday night.
The Red Wolves, ahead 44-34 at the break, slowly pulled away in the second half to lead 73-59 following Gillard's trey with 8:06 remaining and cruised to the win.
