BYU scores 35 straight, tops UMass 35-16
FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) — Zach Wilson threw two touchdown passes to Talon Shumway and Aleva Hifo ran for two and Brigham Young pulled away in the second half for a 35-14 win over Massachusetts on Saturday at the home of the New England Patriots.
The Cougars (5-5) fell into an early 10-0 hole but Wilson connected with Shumway for a 4-yard score late in the first period and a 15-yarder late in the second for a 14-10 lead.
Garcia FG gives UMass 62-59 win over Liberty in 3 OT
AMHERST, Mass. (AP) — Cooper Garcia kicked a field goal that made the difference as UMass beat Liberty 62-59 in triple overtime on Saturday night.
With the score tied 59-all in the third overtime, Jarell Addo intercepted a Stephen Calvert pass, denying Liberty a scoring opportunity. Six plays later, Garcia booted a 22-yard field goal for the win.
UMass romps to 63-15 win over Duquesne
AMHERST, Mass. (AP) — Andrew Ford passed for 186 yards and two touchdowns and Bilal Ally rushed for 109 yards and a score on just nine carries as Massachusetts romped to 63-15 win over Duquesne in the opener for both teams Saturday night.
Ford-Isabella combo leads UMass past Maine 44-31
BOSTON (AP) — Andrew Ford threw for 355 yards and four touchdowns, three to Andy Isabella, and Marquis Young broke free for a 33-yard score with 1:57 to play as Massachusetts defeated Maine 44-31 at Fenway Park on Saturday night.
Ford was 21-of-39 passing and surpassed 5,000 yards for his career, Isabella had eight catches for 152 yards and Young carried 19 times for 123 yards. Lee Moses also returned an interception 70 yards for a score for the Minutemen (3-7).
Laurent’s FG lifts UMass over Appalachian St. 30-27 in 2OT
AMHERST, Mass. (AP) — Logan Laurent kicked a 36-yard field goal in the second overtime to lift Massachusetts over Appalachian State 30-27 on Saturday.
Laurent made a 47-yard field goal in the first quarter, and his 45-yarder with five seconds left in regulation tied it at 20.
Marquis Young had a 10-yard touchdown run for UMass (2-6) in the first overtime. Appalachian State (5-3) answered with Taylor Lamb's 20-yard TD pass to Ike Lewis.
Rourke leads Ohio to shootout win over Massachusetts 58-50
HADLEY, Mass. (AP) — Nathan Rourke threw for 181 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 113 yards and two scores and Ohio fought off winless Massachusetts 58-50 on Saturday.
A.J. Ouellette ran for 125 yards and scored a touchdown and now has three-straight games rushing for more than 100 yards. Brendan Cope had 126 yards receiving and a touchdown.
