SOUTH SIOUX CITY — A new name and new look but with the same great service.
That’s the message leaders at Delta Hotels by Marriott South Sioux City Riverfront want to emphasize to people who know it better by its former moniker, the Marina Inn Hotel and Conference Center.
“I tell people, ‘I don’t care what you call us as long as you stay here and dine here,’” said owner John Gleeson, whose family has owned and operated the property since 1972.
China orders Marriott to suspend website, app in map furor
BEIJING (AP) — Regulators have ordered the Marriott hotel chain to close its China-based website and app for one week after criticizing the company for referring to Tibet and self-ruled Taiwan as countries in a customer survey.
The Shanghai Cyberspace Authority said Friday that Marriott was ordered to "to conduct a comprehensive self-examination and rectification to completely clean up illegal content."
Marriott plans new $600M headquarters in Maryland
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Marriott International Inc. is planning a new $600 million headquarters in Maryland.
Marriott announced Tuesday that the new complex in Bethesda, a few miles from its current home, will have 700,000 square feet of office space for more than 3,500 employees. A Marriott-branded hotel will be built on the site with more than 200 rooms.
Marriott receives final approval needed for Starwood buyout
NEW YORK (AP) — Chinese antitrust regulators have approved Marriott's buyout of Starwood, marking the final approval needed for the deal to close.
Marriott International Inc. and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. expect to close the deal before the market opens on Friday.
Shareholders from both companies approved the deal in April. At closing Starwood stockholders will receive 0.8 shares of Marriott common stock plus $21.00 in cash for each share of Starwood common stock.
