Jaguars’ Fournette doubtful to play in finale at Texans
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars don't expect running back Leonard Fournette to play in the season finale at Houston.
Coach Doug Marrone listed Fournette (ankle/foot) as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Texans (10-5). The second-year pro has missed practice all week.
QB Hogan, WR Quick, DL Taylor cut by Redskins to get to 53
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Third-string quarterback Kevin Hogan, receiver Brian Quick and defensive lineman Phil Taylor were among the players the Washington Redskins cut to get down to the 53-man roster limit.
Among the other moves made Saturday by Washington were putting guard Tyler Catalina on injured reserve and defensive end Stacy McGee on the physically unable to perform list.
The team kept five running backs, including fumble-prone Samaje Perine, while Kapri Bibbs was released.
Skins LT Trent Williams, Giants WR Sterling Shepard inactive
LANDOVER, Md. (AP) — Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams is inactive for the Washington Redskins against the New York Giants because of an injured right knee.
The Thanksgiving night game is the third time in the past five weeks that Williams has been sidelined by the knee. His absence means Washington is missing three-fifths of its starting offensive line, because left guard Shawn Lauvao and center Spencer Long went on injured reserve this week.
Mason Foster, Washington Redskins linebacker, to be put on injured reserve, have shoulder surgery
ASHBURN, Virginia Washington Redskins linebacker Mason Foster will undergo shoulder surgery and be placed on injured reserve, coach Jay Gruden announced Friday.
Foster has a torn labrum and opted for surgery because the pain has become unbearable. The linebacker initially dislocated his shoulder in a Week 2 win against the Los Angeles Rams.
Redskins LB Spaight readies for 1st NFL start vs. Panthers
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Last year Martrell Spaight was so sensitive to light that he darkened his sunglasses with a black marker.
He is set to make his first NFL start for the Washington Redskins under the Monday night spotlight against Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers. After missing his entire rookie season with concussion problems, Spaight earned the trust of the coaching staff to fill in for Will Compton at middle linebacker.
Redskins cut linebacker Riley, defensive lineman Paea
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — The Washington Redskins released four-year starting linebacker Perry Riley and defensive lineman Stephen Paea as they continued to cut down to their 53-man roster.
Riley and Paea were the two biggest cuts so far, but coach Jay Gruden said they were a product of the organization's depth at those positions.
