Utah State routs North Texas 52-13 in New Mexico Bowl
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Utah State walked into the New Mexico Bowl with one of its best records in school history but uncertainty. Its head coach, Matt Wells, left to take the Texas Tech job. Interim coach Frank Maile had to prepare the Aggies with an army of graduate assistants and an announcement a new coach was coming next month.
North Texas, meanwhile, was coming into Albuquerque with experienced coach Seth Littrell and highly touted quarterback Mason Fine.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Mason Fine passed for 320 yards and two touchdowns and DeAndre Torrey had 155 yards rushing and a score to help North Texas hold on for a 24-21 win over UTSA on Saturday night.
Fine completed passes to 11 different players and finished 26 of 36 with one interception.
UNT (9-3, 5-3 Conference USA) has won nine games in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1977-78 seasons — under College Football Hall of Fame coach Hayden Fry.
Torrey’s 92-yard TD run helps UNT beat FAU 41-38
DENTON, Texas (AP) — DeAndre Torrey had 17 carries for a career-high 187 yards, including a 92-yard touchdown run with 4:06 to play, and North Texas beat UNT 41-38 on Thursday night.
Old Dominion spoils Fine performance, tops North Texas 34-31
NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Lala Davis scored from a yard out with 15 seconds left in the game as Old Dominion came from 28 points down in the first half to pull out a 34-31 victory over North Texas in a Conference USA contest Saturday afternoon.
North Texas scored the first four touchdowns, two on runs by DeAndre Torrey, including a 37-yard dash in the first quarter that made it 14-0.
Fine, Torrey lead North Texas past Rice 41-17
DENTON, Texas (AP) — Mason Fine passed for 333 yards and two touchdowns and DeAndre Torrey ran for 130 yards and scored four times as North Texas rolled to a 41-17 victory over Rice in a Conference USA West Division matchup on Saturday.
Brown leads UAB to 29-21 win over North Texas
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Spencer Brown ran for three touchdowns and UAB rallied in the second half to remain undefeated in conference, beating North Texas 29-21 on Saturday night.
Brown had 100 yards on 25 carries for the Blazers (6-1, 4-0 Conference USA). A.J. Erdely threw for 189 yards and Nick Vogel kicked a pair of field goals.
N. Texas uses 3 Torrey TDs to put away S. Mississippi 30-7
DENTON, Texas (AP) — Mason Fine threw for 292 yards and a score and DeAndre Torrey ran for three touchdowns and North Texas pulled away from Southern Mississippi 30-7 on Saturday.
After a scoreless opening quarter, Fine threw a 53-yard score to Jalen Guyton for a 7-0 lead. Southern Mississippi quickly countered when Jack Abraham threw a 44-yard pass to Quez Watkins to tie it.
La Tech blocks FG, beats previously unbeaten N. Texas 29-27
DENTON, Texas (AP) — Amik Robertson blocked a 46-yard field goal attempt with 33 seconds left to help Louisiana Tech beat previously unbeaten North Texas, 29-27, in a Conference USA opener on Saturday night.
Fine leads North Texas in a 58-16 rout of Incarnate Word
DENTON, Texas (AP) — Mason Fine threw for more than 400 yards and four touchdowns, three of them to Rico Bussey Jr. as North Texas routed Incarnate Word, 58-16 on Saturday night.
North Texas is now 2-0 for the first time since 1994, its last season as a Division I-AA program.
The Mean Green held a 10-6 lead after one quarter, then scored 31 unanswered points in the second to lead 41-6 at intermission.

DENTON, Texas (AP) — Mason Fine threw for 444 yards and three touchdowns, Kemon Hall returned an interception for a touchdown and DeAndre Torrey had a 96-yard kickoff return for North Texas in a 46-23 win over SMU in a season opener on Saturday night.
Fine threw two TD strikes to Jalen Guyton, and another to Nic Smith. Hall picked off a pass by Ben Hicks and returned it 36 yards for another Mean Green score.

FAU’s Singletary named C-USA’s MVP; UAB’s Clark top coach
IRVING, Texas (AP) — Florida Atlantic sophomore Devin Singletary, the national leader with 29 rushing touchdowns, has been named Conference USA's MVP.
Singletary is the first running back to be the C-USA MVP since the award's inception in 2008. He ran for 1,796 yards with 11 consecutive 100-yard rushing games as the Owls won their first league title.

DENTON, Texas (AP) — Carlos Henderson scored five touchdowns for the second time this season, and Louisiana Tech pulled away from North Texas in a 45-24 win over North Texas on Saturday night.
Ryan Higgins threw a 12-yard pass to Henderson for his fourth TD with 7:13 to play in the third for a 38-24 lead. Higgins found Henderson again on a 9-yard pass with the fourth quarter just underway.

HOUSTON (AP) — Willy Ivery plunged in from 4-yards out, Rice's Darik Dillard was stuffed on 4th-and-1 on the ensuing drive, and North Texas escaped Rice with a 42-35 win in 2OT on Saturday night.
