Briceno’s walk-off HR sends Angels past Rangers 5-4 in 11
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Angels celebrated Jose Briceno's extra-inning homer with the frenzied enthusiasm of a team barreling toward the playoffs, not a team that needs a six-game winning streak this week just to finish at .500.

TROY, Ala. (AP) — Troy coach Neal Brown has promoted two of his offensive assistants, including new offensive coordinator Matt Moore.
Brown announced the promotions Thursday. Moore will still coach the offensive line.
Sean Reagan will be quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator.
Moore was nominated for the Broyles Award for the nation's top assistant in 2016. He has been co-offensive coordinator for the past three seasons and his line allowed a national-low eight sacks in 2016.
There is no question that Case Keenums performance during the 2017 season for the Vikings is going to change his career.
He finished the season as the 45th-highest-paid quarterback in the NFL, trailing signal-callers such as Ryan Mallett, Scott Tolzien, Matt Moore and Paxton Lynch.
Keenum also finished the season second in Total QBR, ESPNs quarterback rating system, ahead of stars such as Tom Brady, Matt Ryan, Drew Brees and Russell Wilson.

Matt Moore dealt from Giants to Rangers for minor leaguers
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Texas acquired Matt Moore in a trade with the San Francisco Giants on Friday, raising the possibility of four left-handers in the Rangers' rotation.
"As far as the four lefties, generally it's a good thing," Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said. "I realize there's some very heavy right-handed clubs in our division. With the exception of Martin (Perez), the other three guys have been very effective against righties in their career."

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Miami Dolphins guard Jermon Bushrod has been ruled out of Monday night's game against New England because of a foot injury that has sidelined him since Week 11.

Coach Adam Gase said he anticipates Bushrod will be able to play again this season.

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase says No. 2 quarterback Matt Moore will be unavailable for at least one more game because of a foot injury.

Way We Hear It: Miami Dolphins’ 2018 quarterback plans coming into focus
The Miami Dolphins’ fairly promising start to the 2017 season has turned south quickly. A 4-2 start with two road victories — including over the Los Angeles Chargers and Atlanta Falcons, two of the hotter teams now — has turned into five straight losses and what appears to be a lost season.
Dolphins blunder their way to 35-17 loss to Patriots
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Miami quarterback Matt Moore dropped back from the New England 15-yard line and lofted a jump ball toward the corner of the end zone.

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler was ruled out of Sunday's game at New England because of a concussion, and backup Matt Moore will make his second start of the season.

Dolphins QB Cutler remains in concussion protocol
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler remains in the concussion protocol and is not practicing Wednesday, but he hasn't yet been ruled out of Sunday's game at New England.
Coach Adam Gase says he's taking the quarterback situation day to day. Matt Moore would make his second start of the season if Cutler doesn't play.
Gase declined to say whether he would consider starting Cutler even if the veteran misses the entire week of practice.
QB for reeling Dolphins uncertain against Patriots
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Double-negative answers to quarterback questions are rarely a good sign, and that's all Adam Gase could offer Monday.
Jay Cutler's availability Sunday for the Miami Dolphins at New England is uncertain because he's in the concussion protocol, but if healthy, he's still the starter.
"There's no reason for me to say he's not," Gase said.
With seven weeks to play, the New England Patriots control their own destiny, yet again, for the AFC's top seed. They are in a similar position as they were last year, with valid concerns about the defense's ability to hold up against top offenses.
Should fantasy owners sit or start Miami Dolphins receiver Kenny Stills tonight?
Miami Dolphins receiver Kenny Stills had his best game of the season in Week 7, and the team will need him to have another big game Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens.
Stills will have to work with Matt Moore under center, as starting quarterback Jay Cutler is sidelined with a chest injury. He linked up with Moore for two touchdowns in Sunday’s win over the New York Jets.
The Ravens have a tough defense, allowing the second-lowest completion percentage in the league at 55 percent.
Dolphins, Ravens looking forward to a well-deserved break
BALTIMORE (AP) — As a reward for going three days between games, the Miami Dolphins and Baltimore Ravens now get an extended break before returning to action.
Boy, can they use it.
The Dolphins (4-3) have to find a way to get their offense moving, and they have to decide whether to use Jay Cutler or Matt Moore at quarterback.
The Ravens (4-4) can only hope quarterback Joe Flacco uses the time off to recover from the concussion he received in a 40-0 win over Miami on Thursday night.
Moore’s 1st start of season a clunker for Dolphins
BALTIMORE (AP) — Matt Moore couldn't wait for his first start of the season. Just four days earlier, the Dolphins quarterback came off the bench to rescue Miami in a comeback win.
Given the opportunity to run the show from the beginning, the 33-year-old quarterback delivered a clunker of a performance in a 40-0 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night.
Moore went 25 for 44 for 176 yards. He was sacked three times and both his interceptions were returned for touchdowns.
Ravens lose Flacco before beating Dolphins 40-0
BALTIMORE (AP) — Joe Flacco threw a touchdown pass before being knocked from the game with a concussion, sidelined as the Baltimore Ravens frustrated quarterback Matt Moore and the Miami Dolphins in a 40-0 victory Thursday night.

‘Gunslinger’ QB Moore takes over for Dolphins against Ravens
BALTIMORE (AP) — The Miami Dolphins hope a quarterback change won't blunt the momentum they've gathered from a three-game winning streak.
Matt Moore makes his first start of the season Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens, who have quarterback issues of a different kind.
Dolphins looking for more from backup QB Matt Moore
On a short week, having a backup quarterback start usually means trouble.
Not so for the Miami Dolphins, who saw Matt Moore come on for the injured Jay Cutler — to cheers at Hard Rock Stadium — and rally the troops past the Jets.
Right now, the Ravens aren't as good as the Jets, either, which isn't saying much.
CB Maxwell released by Dolphins, who sign QB David Fales
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Cornerback Byron Maxwell has been released by the Miami Dolphins, who signed David Fales to reinforce depth at quarterback.
With Jay Cutler nursing cracked ribs, Fales is expected to back up Matt Moore in Thursday's game at Baltimore.
Fales was with the Dolphins in training camp and cut before the season. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 2014, but has never thrown a pass in an NFL game.
