Monachino worked for new Bears defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano in Indianapolis and with him on John Harbaugh's staff in Baltimore. He was a senior defensive analyst for Missouri last season and was hired as Kansas State's defensive coordinator and linebackers coach in December.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Guard Kyle Long felt whole again Friday after returning to practice with the Chicago Bears for the first time since late October.
Following seven missed games after foot surgery, Long is hoping to come off injured reserve in time for the Bears' first playoff game in January, if not before.
"It felt good to be in a helmet and running around," Long said. "I don't feel like a ghost in the building, which is nice."

With division in hand, Bears going for first-round bye
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Coach Matt Nagy is saving the big celebrations for later.
He opted instead to spend "quality time" at home with his four sons, ate sushi, consumed "one beverage" and kept his eyes on the prizes still out there after the Chicago Bears clinched the NFC North.
One he would love, though it probably won't come gift-wrapped: A first-round bye.
"You wanna ask me if I want the first-round bye, or the No. 1 seed? Absolutely, give it to me right now," he said.
