Shorts is big at the line as UC Davis downs UC Riverside
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — TJ Shorts II scored 23 points and made all 11 of his foul shots and UC Davis beat UC Riverside 84-71 on Saturday night.
Shorts' personal best at the foul line came against Lamar on Dec. 22, 2017 when he made all 13 of his free throws. The 5-foot-9 guard entered the game shooting 66.7 percent from the line. The Aggies set a school record, finishing 23 of 23 from the line.
Drammeh, Buggs help Hawaii beat UC Davis 80-60, snap skid
HONOLULU (AP) — Sheriff Drammeh hit 4 of 5 from 3-point range and finished with 18 points, Drew Buggs had 12 points and a career-high 12 assists, and Hawaii beat UC Davis 80-60 Saturday night to snap a two-game skid.
Zigmars Raimo scored 14 on 6-of-7 shooting and Dawson Carper had 13 points and five rebounds — both career highs — for Hawaii (12-7, 3-2 Big West Conference). Carper, a 7-foot freshman who came in with 16 points and 13 rebounds this season, made 6 of 8 from the field.
UC Davis gets first Big West win, 75-63 over Cal Poly
DAVIS, Calif. (AP) — Siler Schneider scored 23 points and UC Davis ran away late to beat Cal Poly 75-63 on Saturday night for its first Big West Conference win.
The game was tied at 55 with five minutes left. Matt Neufeld completed a 3-point play, Schneider added a layup and free throw, and Joe Mooney capped the Aggies' 9-0 surge with another 3-point play. Kuba Niziol's 3-pointer pulled Cal Poly to 68-61 with 1:17 left. Neufeld dunked on the next possession and the Mustangs didn't get closer.
Leonard scores 22; UC Irvine beats UC Davis 71-69 in OT
IRVINE, Calif. (AP) — Evan Leonard scored five of his 22 points in the final 1:42 and Max Hazzard finished with 15 points to help UC Irvine beat UC Davis 71-69 in overtime Thursday night in the Big West Conference opener for both teams.
Tommy Rutherford fouled out with 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting in 22 minutes for UCI (13-4).

DAVIS, Calif. (AP) — TJ Shorts II and Matt Neufeld each scored 17 points and UC Davis overcame a spirted fight from NAIA-member William Jessup for an 83-65 win on Sunday.
Garrison Goode's layup made it 13-8 in favor of UC Davis before the Warriors used a 17-4 run and led 25-17 on Tyras Rattler Jr.'s 3-pointer with 9:42 before halftime. William Jessup led 38-31 at the break and was aided by 14-of-15 shooting from the foul line and a 25-16 rebounding advantage.
Pineiro scores 28, leads San Diego over UC Davis 76-57
DAVIS, Calif. (AP) — Isaiah Pineiro scored 17 of his 28 points in the second half to help San Diego pull away and beat UC Davis 76-57 on Friday night.
San Diego (2-0) used a 19-9 run to stretch a six-point lead to 66-51 with six minutes left and UC Davis (0-2) didn't get closer. Pineiro scored six points and Yauhen Massalski capped the surge with a dunk.
San Francisco opens with road romp over UC Davis
DAVIS, Calif. (AP) — Charles Minlend scored 16 points and Matt McCarthy chipped in with 11 points and eight rebounds as San Francisco opened its season with a 76-42 road win over UC Davis on Tuesday night.
Minlend buried 7 of his 11 shots from the floor as the Dons shot 52.5 percent (32 of 61) for the game, including 59 percent (20 of 34) in opening up a 46-26 halftime lead. Jordan Ratinho scored 14 and Frankie Ferrari pitched in with seven assists.
