Hot shooting St. Cloud State men ends WSC men’s basketball season
St. Cloud State shot 58.2 percent (32-55) from the field as the Huskies defeated Wayne State College 81-57 Wednesday evening in the opening round of the NSIC Sanford Health Men’s Basketball Tournament in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The host Huskies improve to 22-7 with the win while WSC ends the year at 14-17.
Wayne State took the lead early on the Huskies, jumping out of the game to a 12-4 lead five minutes into the game.

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Nearly seven years to the day he was hired, the Fred Hoiberg era is over at Iowa State.

Morris leads Iowa State past Nevada in NCAA Tournament
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Monte Morris delivered another solid all-around performance. Deonte Burton, Naz Mitrou-Long and Matt Thomas took turns coming up with big plays.

Morris had 19 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, and Iowa State outlasted Nevada 84-73 on Thursday night to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year.

Monte Morris got just about the whole thing.
It was only fitting the most valuable player in the Big 12 Tournament, the senior guard who kept willing the No. 23 Cyclones to victory, got to hang the net around his neck. Morris scored 17 points in the title game Saturday night to send Iowa State to an 80-74 victory over No. 11 West Virginia.

MANHTAAN, Kan. (AP) — Before Wednesday night, Solomon Young had just one start for Iowa State and a scoring average of just 3.4 points a game.
Young's second start was one for the books.
The freshman scored a season-high 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Cyclones to an 87-79 win over Kansas State.
Deonte Burton added 17 points, Naz Mitrou-Long Long had 16, Monte Morris 15 and Matt Thomas 14 for Iowa State (16-9, 8-5 Big 12).

AMES, Iowa (AP) — For once, Iowa State gave its fans a game they didn't have to sweat out until the final buzzer.
Naz Mitrou-Long scored 23 points and Iowa State cruised past Oklahoma 80-64 on Saturday, sending the Sooners to their seventh straight defeat.
Mitrou-Long buried five 3s for the Cyclones (15-9, 7-5 Big 12), who blew the game open with a 21-4 run midway through the second half.
Allen free throws enable Texas to defeat Iowa State 67-65
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas is the least successful team in the Big 12 at making free throws in conference games, and the Longhorns did not help their accuracy mark on Tuesday night.
But freshman Jarrett Allen made two under pressure with 7.2 seconds left, giving the Longhorns a 67-65 victory over Iowa State.
Allen led Texas with 17 points and collected nine rebounds. Shaq Cleare scored 12 for Texas, and Andrew Jones added 10.

Matt Thomas scored 19 and Nazareth Mitrou-Long contributed 17 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Cyclones (11-4, 3-1 Big 12), whose only conference loss was a 65-63 nail-biter at No. 2 Baylor on Jan. 4. It was Iowa State's eighth-straight win over Oklahoma State.

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa State coach Steve Prohm said last month that forward Deonte Burton's goal should be to get a double-double every game.
Burton got his first one out of the way Monday night, helping the 20th-ranked Cyclones through their first bout of minor adversity this season.
