BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Eddie Reese scored 21 points and the game-winning free throw with one second left and Southern rallied to beat Jackson State 62-60 in a Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal on Tuesday night.
Jared Sam scored 12 points for the fourth-seeded Jaguars (15-17), who face top-seeded Arkansas-Pine Bluff (13-20) in a Friday semifinal.
Alabama State beats Jackson State 62-60
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Reginald Gee had 17 points and Rodney Simeon scored 13 as Alabama State came back to beat Jackson State 62-60 on Thursday night.
Branden Johnson blocked six shots for the Hornets (8-21, 8-9 Southwestern Athletic Conference), including swatting Treshawn Bolden's layup attempt to seal the win as time expired.
Gene Davis closed the first half with a 3-point play to give the Hornets a one point lead.
Jackson State beats Arkansas-Pine Bluff 51-48
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Paris Collins had 17 points and eight rebounds, Lemmie Howard added 11 points and nine boards and Jackson State beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 51-48 on Monday night.
Howard's layup put Jackson State up 42-38 with 10:55 remaining and after Jordan Berry gave the Tigers a 48-43 lead with just less than six minutes left, Howard added another 3 to make it 51-45 three minutes later.
Jackson State holds off Mississippi Valley State, 60-59
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Jordan Berry hit a 3-pointer with under four minutes to play and Jackson State made it stand up for a 60-59 win over Mississippi Valley State in a Southwestern Athletic Conference battle Saturday night.
Jackson State entered the game tied with Alabama State for the No. 6 seed into the conference tournament, but the Hornets lost, 80-74 to Prairie View, leaving the Tigers alone in sixth place with two games left to play.
Late flurry of 3s lifts Jackson State over Alcorn St. 60-57
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Jeremiah Jefferson hit five 3-pointers and scored 17 and Chace Franklin sank a 3 with 16 seconds remaining to send Jackson State to a 60-57 victory over Alcorn State on Saturday.
Jackson State (10-13, 7-3 Southwestern Athletic Conference) trailed 57-51 with 3:17 left in the game, but Jefferson, Maurice Rivers and Franklin nailed 3-pointers on three straight trips down the floor to pull out the victory and snap a three-game skid. Rivers scored 12.
Jackson State tops Texas Southern in OT for 5th straight win
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Maurice Rivers tossed in 26 points, Julian Daughtry scored a career-high 22 and Treshawn Bolden added a double-double to rally Jackson State to an 85-80 overtime victory over Texas Southern on Saturday.
Bolden finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Tigers of Jackson State (8-10, 5-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference), who remained atop the conference standings with their fifth straight win.
Rivers, Howard lead Jackson St. to 65-61 win over Southern

Rivers finished with 14 points and three blocks, and Julian Daughtry added 13 points for Jackson State (7-10, 4-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Rivers made just 3 of 11 from the field, but hit 7 of 8 free throws.
Jackson State undefeated in SWAC, beats Alcorn State 60-55
LORMAN, Miss. (AP) — Maurice Rivers scored 15 points to lead Jackson State to a 60-55 victory over Alcorn State on Saturday night.
Rivers was 5-of-10 shooting from the floor. Treshawn Bolden and Jesse Love added 10 points apiece for Jackson State (6-10, 3-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference), which has won three straight to start conference play after snapping a three-game losing skid. Paris Collins chipped in nine points and a game-high nine rebounds for the Tigers.
Bolden’s double-double sends Jackson St. past Alabama A&M
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Treshawn Bolden scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds and his go-ahead layup with 1:42 left gave Jackson State a 59-56 win over Alabama A&M on Wednesday night.
Julian Daughtry made a pair of free throws with 23 seconds remaining and De'Ederick Petty missed a 3-pointer and a chance to tie with five seconds left.
Jackson State beats Fisk 60-53
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Maurice Rivers had 16 points and 11 rebounds to help Jackson State beat NAIA member Fisk 60-53 on Monday night.
Jeremiah Bozeman added 14 points for the Tigers (3-7), who needed a 9-2 run to pull away to a 58-48 lead on Jordan Berry's 3-pointer with 1:30 to go.
Tyran Davis had 11 points and Ryainni Scott added 10 for the Bulldogs. The game counted as an exhibition for Fisk.
Harris, Boykins lead Louisiana Tech 91-62 over Jackson St
RUSTON, La. (AP) — Jalen Harris scored 19 of his 22 points in the first half, Jacobi Boykins finished with 19 points with five 3-pointers, and Louisiana Tech beat Jackson State 91-62 on Saturday night for the Tigers' third straight loss.
DaQuan Bracey and Jy'lan Washington added 12 point apiece for the Bulldogs (7-2), who shot 75 percent from the field in the first half. Louisiana Tech made 10 3-pointers, outrebounded Jackson State 42-32 and outscored them 36-16 in the paint.
Central Michigan holds off Jackson State 70-63
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — David DiLeo made 3 of 6 from 3-point range and scored 19, and Central Michigan held on to win its fifth straight on Friday night, 70-63 over Jackson State.
Shawn Roundtree added 16 points and Cecil Williams scored 11 for the Chippewas (6-1), who pulled away with a 7-0 run to lead 68-59 on Roundtree's two free throws with 1:44 left.
McDaniel leads way, UL Monroe beats Jackson St. 65-52
MONROE, La. (AP) — Sam McDaniel scored 16 points, Travis Munnings and Marvin Jean-Pierre each scored 14 and Louisiana-Monroe beat Jackson State 65-52 on Tuesday night.
The trio combined to make 15 of the Warhawks' 22 field goals. Louisiana-Monroe (3-3) shot 50 percent from the field which included 9-of-20 shooting from 3-point range. Jordon Harris missed just one of his five shots and scored 10 points.
Holland has 19 points, Mercer rolls in 2nd half for easy win
MACON, Ga. (AP) — Ria'n Holland had 19 points to lead all five Mercer starters in double figures as the Bears rolled to an 86-58 victory over Jackson State on Tuesday night.
The Bears, who led by just five at the break, 43-38, dominated in the second half, opening the period with a 32-8 run.
Holland grabbed six rebounds with five assists and five steals for Mercer (2-1).
Jackson State routs Millsaps 84-46 in season opener
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Jeremiah Jefferson scored 23 points and made five 3-pointers to help Jackson State beat Division III Millsaps 84-46 on Friday in a season opener.
Jefferson was 8-of-12 shooting from the floor. Maurice Rivers, a preseason all-Southwestern Athletic Conference selection, added 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting for the Tigers. Darius Austin chipped in 10 points.
