VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — Markus Golder scored all of his 16 points in the second half and Valparaiso rallied late to beat Bradley 77-64 on Saturday night.
Evansville beats Valparaiso for 21st straight time
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Ryan Taylor scored 31 points on 10-of-23 shooting for his fifth 20-point game in a row, and Evansville beat in-state foe Valparaiso 63-59 on Wednesday night for its 21st straight series win dating to 1969.
K.J. Riley added nine points with six boards and Taylor had seven rebounds for the Purple Aces (16-10, 6-7 Missouri Valley Conference), who shot 46.8 percent from the floor in winning four of their last five.
Evelyn scores 20, Valparaiso beats Indiana State 69-63
VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — Bakari Evelyn scored 20 points and Valparaiso snapped a five-game slide, beating Indiana State 69-63 on Wednesday night.
The Crusaders (12-12, 3-8 Missouri Valley Conference) trailed 54-52 late in the second half when Markus Golder hit a 3-pointer and Max Joseph a dunk to give them the lead for good, 57-54, with 3:56 to go. Indiana State cut it to 65-63 with 30 seconds remaining, but a Tevonn Walker dunk with six seconds left helped seal the win.
Johnson has double-double, Missouri State beats Valpo 64-57
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Alize Johnson had 24 points and 17 rebounds and Missouri State held off Valparaiso for a 64-57 victory on Wednesday night.
Johnson was 9-of-14 shooting, made three 3-pointers and collected his eighth straight double-double. Jarred Dixon finished with 12 points for Missouri State (15-5, 5-2 Missouri Valley Conference), which swept the Crusaders and has won six of its last eight.
Northern Iowa gets 1st MVC win, holds off Valparaiso, 81-76
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) — Tywhon Pickford and Austin Phyfe combined to score 43 points and Northern Iowa held off Valparaiso late, 81-76 to earn its first Missouri Valley Conference victory on Saturday night.
Northern Iowa now has won 23 of the 25 meetings between the schools.
Walker’s 26 points help Valparaiso beat Drake 77-60
VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — Tevonn Walker scored 26 points and grabbed six rebounds as Valparaiso ended Drake's five-game win streak with a 77-60 victory Wednesday night.
Walker, Max Joseph and Bakari Evelyn combined to make eight 3-pointers, and Derrik Smits had two dunks, in an explosive first half for the Crusaders (11-7, 2-3 Missouri Valley Conference) that gave them a 46-35 lead at intermission.
Joseph, Sorolla lead Valpo past Southern Illinois 83-72
VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — Max Joseph and Jaume Sorolla scored 17 points apiece, both career highs, to lead Valparaiso to an 83-72 win over Southern Illinois on Saturday.
Bakari Evelyn hit 4 of 5 3-pointers and added 14 points for the Crusaders (10-7, 1-3 Missouri Valley Conference). Markus Golder added 13 and Derrik Smits 11.
Armon Fletcher had a career-high 32 points and 14 rebounds for the Huskies (10-7, 2-2) and Kavion Pippen scored 14 points.
Missouri State ends Valparaiso’s home winning streak, 67-50
VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — Jarrid Rhodes made five 3-pointers for 15 points, Alize Johnson had 11 points, 12 rebounds and four assists for his ninth double-double, and Missouri State beat Valparaiso 67-50 on Sunday.
Valpo had its 13-game home winning streak snapped, the first home loss as a member of the Missouri Valley Conference.
Indiana State holds off Valparaiso in MVC opener
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — Jordan Barnes buried 4 of 5 from 3-point range and scored 18 with five rebounds, three assists and two steals to propel Indiana State to a 73-64 victory over Valparaiso on Thursday night in a Missouri Valley Conference opener for both teams.
Brenton Scott tossed in 15 points and Qiydar Davis chipped in with 11 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals for the Sycamores (6-7), who trailed 30-27 at halftime.
UC Riverside jumps out early, cruises past Valparaiso 73-60
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Dikymbe Martin scored 14 of his career-high 30 points in the first half and UC Riverside rolled to a 73-60 victory over Valparaiso on Wednesday night.
UC Riverside (4-7) jumped out to a 20-5 lead and cruised the rest of the way. Martin set the pace, scoring 10 points with two rebounds and an assist. His 3-pointer with 2:11 left before the break made it 34-13.
Persons’ last-second 3 lifts Ball St over Valparaiso 71-70
MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Tayler Persons scored 23 points, including seven straight down the stretch and the game-winning 3-pointer with 3.3 seconds left, and Ball State beat Valparaiso 71-70 on Saturday to win its fifth straight.
The Crusaders regained the lead 60-56 after an 11-2 run capped by Bakari Evelyn's 3-pointer, but the Cardinals led 68-67 on Persons' jumper with 2:08 to go.
