MCKINNEY, Texas (AP) _ Torchmark Corp. (TMK) on Tuesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $164.7 million.
On a per-share basis, the McKinney, Texas-based company said it had profit of $1.45. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were $1.56 per share.
The results met Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was also for earnings of $1.56 per share.

Former NFL player McFadden arrested in Texas on DWI charge
DALLAS (AP) — Authorities say former NFL player Darren McFadden has posted bond after he was arrested on a drunken-driving charge when he fell asleep in the drive-thru lane at a fast-food restaurant in suburban Dallas.
Collin County court records show the 31-year-old was charged with driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest after being found early Monday at a Whataburger in McKinney. McFadden was taken to the county jail.
Body of missing Texas man found in southwest Arkansas bayou
TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) — The body of a missing Texarkana, Texas, man has been found in a submerged vehicle in a bayou in southwest Arkansas.
Arkansas State Police Capt. Brady Gore tells the Texarkana Gazette that the body of 33-year-old Reuben Madison was found Monday morning in the car in McKinney Bayou along U.S. Highway 82 in Miller County.
Woman pleads guilty to military insurance kickback scheme
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A Texas woman has pleaded guilty to federal conspiracy charges over a military health insurance kickback scheme that generated more than $10 million in fraudulent prescriptions.
Cody Hiland, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, said Wednesday that 41-year-old Jennifer Sorenson of McKinney, Texas, pleaded guilty to conspiring to violate the Anti-Kickback Statute. Sorenson faces up to five years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.
Valdosta St. beats Ferris St. 49-47 for Division II title
MCKINNEY, Texas (AP) — Ninety-six points were scored in the NCAA Division II championship game Saturday. Two points that weren't scored made the difference.
Rogan Wells tied the championship record with five touchdown passes and Valdosta State won its fourth national title with a 49-47 victory over Ferris State.
Ferris State's rally from an 11-point deficit fell short when Jevon Shaw's two-point conversion pass sailed wide of Keyondre Craig at the back of the end zone with 40 seconds left.
Texas Southern hires Clarence McKinney as football coach
HOUSTON (AP) — Texas Southern has hired Arizona assistant Clarence McKinney as its head coach.
A school statement Monday announced the selection of McKinney, who spent this season as associate head coach and running backs coach at Arizona.
McKinney replaces Michael Haywood, who last week resigned after a 2-9 season. He was 8-25 in three seasons at the Houston school.

HOUSTON (AP) — The Tennessee Titans were down by four with the ball on the 3-yard line in the second quarter Monday night against the Houston Texans when coach Mike Vrabel chose to go for it on fourth-and-inches.
Tight end Luke Stocker took the handoff and was immediately met by Zach Cunningham and Bernardrick McKinney and stopped for no gain. Lamar Miller ran 97 yards for a touchdown on the next play to make it 21-10, and the Texans went on to a 34-17 win.

Funerals set for 2 recently identified Korean War soldiers
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Funeral services are this weekend in Oklahoma for two Korean War soldiers whose remains were recently identified after they died two days apart in what is described as a running battle with North Korean forces during the early stages of the war.
Services will be Saturday in Idabel for Army Pvt. Charles Kaniatobe of Idabel and on Sunday in Bokchito for Army Pfc. Mathis Ball Jr. of McKinney, Texas.
Remains identified of Texas soldier who went missing in 1950
McKINNEY, Texas (AP) — U.S. military officials have identified the remains of a 20-year-old Texas soldier who went missing in 1950 following a combat operation in South Korea.
Army Pfc. Mathis O. Ball is scheduled to be buried Nov. 18 in the southeastern Oklahoma town of Bokchito.
Military authorities say Ball's company was fighting North Korean forces in July 1950 before he was declared missing in action in the Korean War.

3 charged in fatal shooting of Memphis civic leader
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Three people have been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a civic leader and former airline executive in Memphis, Tennessee.
Memphis police said on Twitter late Saturday that 22-year-old McKinney Wright, 18-year-old Quandarius Richardson and a 16-year-old have been charged with first-degree murder in perpetration of a robbery and especially aggravated robbery in the shooting of Philip Trenary.
It was not immediately known early Sunday if they have lawyers.

MCKINNEY, Texas (AP) — A suburban Dallas man is suing Ezekiel Elliott for at least $1 million in damages, alleging the Dallas Cowboys running back caused him "serious, life-altering injuries" when Elliott's truck rammed the man's car.
The lawsuit by Ronnie Barnard Hill of Frisco was filed Thursday in a state district court in Collin County, just north of Dallas. Hill's attorney, Quentin Brogdon, said his client sued Elliott reluctantly after failing to reach a private settlement.
Authorities: Texas jail worker sexually harassed inmates
MCKINNEY, Texas (AP) — A kitchen worker at a North Texas jail faces charges after authorities say he sexually harassed and "inappropriately" touched inmates.
Collin County sheriff investigators on Wednesday arrested Kyle Anderson Thomas, a jail worker accused of touching inmates over their clothes and making unsolicited comments that were "sexual in nature."

PLANO, Texas (AP) — Authorities in suburban Dallas have arrested a man in connection with a deadly shooting at an apartment complex in which one person was killed and three others were wounded.
Police in Plano say the shooting occurred Thursday morning and described it as an isolated incident.
Thursday evening, authorities arrested 18-year old Franklin Lee Barnes in the Dallas suburb of McKinney, charging him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

MARYSVILLE, Wash. (AP) — The 9-year-old came to her third-grade teacher in tears.
Two weeks ago, she learned her mother is being deported. The plane ticket back to Honduras is dated for March 19.
